Hey guys the next Meet N Greet get together is at the Deer & Turkey Expo which is coming up soon. It will be March before we know it. We should begin the preliminary planning for this outing. Guys should use this thread to discuss when the prefer to go to the expo(day and timeframe), what seminars they most want to attend and if they are definately going to the D&T Expo this year. That way we can try to narrow down the best time for guys to meet up and swap stories.

What are the dates for it this year? It has been a few years since I've been to it.

Af for me I don't care when/where we meet up. It's possible I won't be able to make it due to a possible Licensing exam I need to take sometime, but have not scheduled. Other than that I plan on making it down.
I havn't seen anything on here from Andy since right before our last meet and greet.

I will be busier on Saturday than Sunday, but if Saturday is the day then I will take a time out.
I can see if there is a lounge or something we can use, or we could meet in an eating area. There aare usually tables set out. Some of you other folks know the Expo better than me.
I would like to make it down, but my father's condition may prevent me from making it. But u never know, It may do me some good to get out.

I am kinda waiting to see when everyone else is going- I will be down for two days. One day to check out the deer and turkey
expo and another to check out some hunting areas. I would like to make the meet and greet if I can. You guys have a great website here and would like to catch up with who ever is there. I will keep an eye on this thread to see what the plan is. LOOKING FORWARD

I think there is another "meet and greet" on Friday the 18th in Nobel County, at Wolf Run for the spring trout release!! If any of you guys want to make a long weekend of it, meet up with us at Wolf Run and fish, then head up I77, take a left at Cambridge and hop on I70 to C-Bus!! I like the D+T Expo but it seems like there are more people every year, and less stuff to see!! But I like going so I might go on Sunday or Saturday, but I know I will be on the lake trout fishing on Friday.

I was thinking Saturday morning might make a good time since it wouldn't be too crowded. However, for those traveling a good distance it might be better to make it Saturday afternoon or evening. Also, I don't care to drink a beer in the morning! lol

We need to nail a place and time or we will just be bumping into each other. How about 11:30 wherever the food vendors are.
Others that know the show should be able to say if there is one spot with some tables.
Also remember that the first person that finds me at the state of ohio booth and says they are from OhioSportsman.com gets an autographed Mossy Oak hat.

I'll be there all weekend. I'm thinking of buying a 2 day pass, Friday and Saturday. The beef expo is also at the same time, so killing 2 birds with stone. Brad, what time u getting there?
Brad Jerman

I'll be there at opening on Saturday. All day with ODNR. I'll be there all day Sunday as well, really just walking around.
Lets have two meet and greets; I propose:
Saturday, lets meet at 11:30 at my deer in the ODNR booth (should be near the center of the room), then grab a bite to eat wherever they have tables.
Sunday, lets meet at 11:30 at my deer in the contest room, then grab a bite to eat wherever they have tables.
I didn't want this to seem "me centric" but I don't know enough about the show to select another location. I also want to stay near my deer as much as possible.
Does that seem ok with everyone?

I'll be there Saturday Brad. I'll come by the booth early on Saturday and then I'll be back for lunch at the designated time. I'm really looking forward to going. I've never made it down for it. I always had something going or couldn't find anyone to go. I'm going whether or not I can find anyone else to go along with me. See you there!

Alright, then!
95% I'll be there on Saturday, too. If I am I'll make sure to be at the "me centric" meeting place at 11:30. ;) (That's funny, Brad.)
.....I'll be the one in the camo.:D

Sorry I wasn't able to meet up with you guys on Saturday. It was great to see Brad there today and he said it was a lot of fun on Saturday. Overall, this year's expo seemed a LOT better than the past few years. I really enjoyed it and had a lot of fun. I'm not sure what made it better, but it seemed a little more geared toward deer this year and a little less focus on outfitters. I came away this feeling as though I learned more than I had in the past. I hope the rest of you had a good time!

That was my first expo. It was crowded!!! I thought by getting there when it opened I would miss some of the crowd. I sure was wrong. The deer heads and seminars were good info. I got to talk to some longbow/recurve makers which was really nice. They were really helpful with info. The longrifle/muzzleloader guys over by Room A were pretty neat as well.
It was a good time meeting everyone that met. Alway nice to put faces with the handles.

Glad I got to say "Hey" to you guys. I had been ther for a while with my son and I beleive he was "expoed" out.:D Wish I would have got to hang out a little more.
How about some of those deer heads? Holy crap!!! And Brad's deer is a MONSTER in person. Unreal!! Brad just kept shaking his head and saying "Gotta love Ohio!!!"....in between signings.
I agree. If that show, and that display of Ohio bucks, doesn't get you pumped about deer hunting in Ohio, than I don't know what would.
BTW, anyone buy anything cool? I got another bow retractor (for bringing your bow into the treestand), another A-Way Bowgrunter Plus call, and a rubber band gun for my son. I was THIS close to dropping a wad on a new stand......it was all the Mountain Dew talking.:D Cool stand, but I need another stand like a hole in the head.
I also messed around in that TreeSling deal. It was actually pretty cool and more comfortable than I thought. Don't know if it's my bag, though.
It was nice meeting all you guys... Wish I could of stuck around longer... Did you guys get to see the hat Brad got made to resemble his deer's rack.. take a look at the picture.. By the way I got to claim the hat... :D

Heh, great picture... I won't go running through the woods with that hat on.
It was great to meet those who came out. I was running late on Sunday... did anyone show right at 11:30 that CountyRoad and I didn't find?
My hand hurts and my voice is shot, but I had a great time.
I managed to get out of there with only buying 2 DVD's and 2 headnets.
Andy, which stand had your interest? I really like the super light stand, but can't remember its name. I also sat in a lone wold for a while. Very nice.

Brad,
The name of the stand escapes me. It was located near the ODNR booth, just a few rows further away from the front door. Very lightweight climber. It had the sign "Pick me up. I weigh 12 lbs." on it. It also had an adjustable "screw" on each side of the stand for fine tuning your level once in the tree.
The guy started haggling price with me and it was then that I realized that I didn't really NEED another stand as much as I wanted one.....then again, maybe I DO NEED that stand!!!:D
BTW, Thanks again for signing a photo for my son, Tucker. You made the refrigerator!!!!;) He keeps asking me, "Is that as big as your buck, Dad?"....of course I told him "No way!!!" :D Actually I tried to explain the record book status of your deer so now he gets it. Heck, you're bigger than Scooby Doo now!!!

I got to ask Greg Miller about his hunt in Ohio during fall of 2003. I guess the week he was here it was really hot and the weather was crappy. He said he liked the area and would probably come back sometime, but would hope for better weather. I was going to ask about the transition from H.S. to Whitetail Magazine but didn't really have time.
Also, there is an Ohio guy that I caught the tail end of his show and he was talking about relief from bugs. I wanted to go to his booth and chat, but I couldn't find it after the seminar?
All in all, I really enjoyed the expo this year!
