Just out of curuiosity, Do you prefer rifle sights or a scope on your shotgun for deer hunting?

Open sights, but considering a low power scope. A running deer can be hard to find in a scope. However I like looking at a reticle more than an open site.

I have to use a scope because of my eyesight. I can see distance fine but nothing up close. So if I look through open sights I can't see the rear sight. And that makes it impossible to use open sights. Otherwise I wouldn't even use a scope.

Good question. I am using open sights on my Mossberg but the last few years I noticed that "things don't look right" when I look down the barrel. A few years back I discovered that I needed reading glasses:( I am thinking that I might have to get a scope put on for next year...SteveOh

I use a scope on my shotgun. Its a mossburg 500 with the side plate so you can use the scope and the side plate sits up high enough you can use the open sites if you wish or you can use the scope.I like this method for a shotgun.
People have claimed the best scope for a shotgun is a red dot so you can get onto your target faster than a scope, but i have not gave this a try because the scope is working just fine.

I have a 1.75-5x32 Bushnell trophy on my shotgun. I started out with open sights and then had a red-dot scope, finally put this scope on and it seems to be the best for me. I have no problems finding running deer in it and have taken several on deer-drives and no complaints. ONLY CONSIDERATION I CAN NOTICE- bad weather- see through scope caps can help.

I grew up using open sights and have no complaints. Alot of buddies have Red-Dots, Iwas considering one but the old saying goes...If it ain't broke...

I do have a scope on my ML. Makes 150 yd shots alittle easier.

4X scope on my remington. For some reason I don't feel the need to take a running shot so Iron sights not an option. Low percentage and too dangerous throwing lead! Maybe that is the archer in me coming through waiting for the perfect shot. But to each his own.
