I've heard of them, but don't know anything about them. To bad George isn't around. I'm sure he would know something about them. Shoot he's probably got five or six of them.

How do you determine draw lenght? is my draw same as my compound 29"

Muzzy,

Your draw lenght may be 1 to 2 inches shorter with the recurve.

With most recurve bows the draw length is measured from the front of the riser. Poundage wise you may want a bow in the 40# range and work up if so desired.

Muzzy man,

I see you live in Columbus. Do you shoot any of the Apache bowhunters shoots or are you a member?

The Indian is a vintage bow for sure. Be sure to inspect the bow real well before shooting it. Check the limb tips and the rest of the limbs for stress cracks etc. Buy a bow stringer so you do not twist the limbs. Also I reccommend making short pulls on the bow do not try and go full draw the first thing, just kind of warm the limbs up a little. That will tell you if there are any faults in the bow. Age usually does not mean it is bad, I have a recurve that is 50 years old and still shoots fine. Use Dacron string only.

Your draw will probably be around 26 or 27 with a recurve. 50 pounds is a good weight to start with too. At least that's what I've been told.

I have very nice Bear Grizzly Id like to sell, very sharp looking.

Aimrite,

The manufactures try and make their bows in 5 pound increments the X means it is over the 45# marking by 1 pound. If you scaled the bow on a good scale it would come out to 46#'s @28 inch draw lenght.

Can't go wrong with a recurve.

I have mostly shot a compound, but got a recurve last summer and I love it. I wish you luck in shooting the recurve as it requires a lot of practice and patience. Keep with it though and you will love it.

I think the challenge of learning to shoot well with a reccurve is part of the appeal.

rjolenic

it is. I love the challenge and hope to become proficient enough someday to hunt with it. It is the most true form of hunting out there. Walking into the woods with the curve would be a great feeling (light wieght, no pins or other gadgets, me and the wilderness). Maybe someday we will be able to do it with confidence.

Your right Ray. That would be the ultimate. I picyure shooting recurve as being one with the bow, an extention of your self

Be one with the bow.

Feel the bow.

Be the bow......
