I'm going to be in the market for a new pair of boots before bow season starts back up this fall.I'm looking for the kind with the rubber half way up and uninsulated. Who makes the best ones?

If you read the post " Products not to buy" there is alot of talk about boots there right now.

Personally I have had real good luck with Rocky. I have 4sets and all have been great. In the other post I said I had 3 sets but forgot about my Tall Rubber ones. I like to go to Nelsonville and try them on before purchasing. I have had 2 sets of the same size not feel the same when on. Plus you can get em cheaper at the warehouse.

Iwas looking at the Cabela's pro series. They look pretty nice and they have a heavily cleated sole. I have had lots of Cabela's brand items in the past. Some of their stuff has just been junk, but I like the return policy. I think I will check them out in person when I go to Wheeling. next month.

I have not seen the "Items not to buy" thread yet. I will check it out.

Take a look at the lacrosse boots and also look at irish settlers boots good boot.

As for rocky boots well i don't agree with what they did to the American people in Nelsonville so i will never own another pair of rockies.

Yes, you'll hear alot of bad things about rocky, their quality, and what they did, but I give them another thumbs up. Finally wore through my 600gr seconds. I think they were discontinued, but for $70, and boots that lasted over 4 years hunting from subzero in Warren County, PA, to upper 90's down here in Athens. Obviously the outlet is close to me also, but I highly recommend them. All the other boots are also great boots. My uncle wears the Irish Setter 1200's in PA, no complaints from him the last two seasons!

Sidenote: I was just up their last week, they've totally finished the larger building now, lots of boots,apparell,etc..

My favorite and warmest are my Lacross Iceman pack style boots.
I think they are rated -120 degees. Bulky but warm. Coldest I hunted was -10 degrees back in '96 and my feet stayed warm.

I fell in love with my LaCrosse Brawny 800's I know they aint quite what you are looking for but these boots ROCK!!! They are more comfortable than a pair of house slippers, they are warm as hell, they look purty spiffy, and they are 100% waterproof and the biggest selling point for me is their cheap!! Their the only boots I will buy till they quit makin them, and with my luck that will probaly be soon!!!

The best boots I've ever owned were the Danner Infantry Combat Boot (ICB). The Marine Corps issued them back in 1998. They are waterproof and super comfortable.

Since I'm an airwinger we had to wear steel toed safety boots so I rarely wore them. Now we can wear black boots anymore so they will be my elk hunting boots.

I wear LaCrosse Monarch PVC knee boots. They are not insulated, but they are waterproof, snug, and have great traction. And they are pretty inexpensive, too, <$15.00/pair.

I had a pair of Danner leather boots once. I bought them for my caribou hunt. They were the most comfortable boots I have owned.
