Thats OK M.Sfisher, I'm the king of stupid reply's on this site!!!! Since I posted this thread, I have contacted ODNR and they told me that they will set dates for spring trout releases mid Feb. I think they release them sometime in mid March. The method of catching them is kinda too easy. They are strait from the hatchery and have never been in the "wild" before so all they know to eat is the comercialy made fish food. Well it dont take a rocket scientist to figure out what to use to catche um!! Berkley Powerbait makes a Hatchery Formula Powerbait for trout. It works wonders!!! I was at the boat ramp where they release them about 3 years ago, there was a MOB of "Nobeltuckians" there to catch um as soon as they hit the water. Not my idea of fair fishing, but if I can catch a limit of bows within an hour drive from home then count me in!!! If I cant get anybody to go with me, look me up MS and we will give them a "Naval assault"!!!

Anyone want to meet up at Wolf Run during this release?? It could be an official un-official Ohiosportsman.com meet and greet???

02-03-2005, 04:19 PM
Yup. My 16' Bass Tracker III 40 horse Merc. I wont be able to use the outboard but those trout dont go too far from the damn anyhow. It should be fun!!! If we play our cards right we can get enough boats to have enough room for any site member who wants to come!!!

Duffy

Hey my old tub aint a looker either!!! Its just an old aluminum bass boat with no frills. But it catches fish and thats all that counts!!! I aint one of these hot shots with the $40,000.00 bass boat who thinks you are in his way on the lake and he cant stand the site of you on HIS lake catching HIS fish in HIS spot. Man I hate douch bags like that!!! No I am just a good ol' Monroe County hilljack out to have some fun and catch some trout. When ODNR releases the date I will post it. Hope we can make this happen!!!

Duffy

bill dowler
02-10-2005, 05:09 PM
hey guys the motor limit is 10 on it not 5, but the lake has a healthy population of crappie also.....thats why i go there usually, there is alot of crappie, catfish, and trout once it is stalked....the crappie are usually biting really good when the trout are released, the lake was stocked with saugeye a couple of years ago...the dnr said they should start showing up this year....

Duffy
02-10-2005, 05:10 PM

The date for release is March 17th

sycamoreredneck
02-21-2005, 08:10 AM
Ok sweet, I'm glad they posted that, I was getting a little nervous!!! My plans are, as of now, to fish on Friday the 18th. I think Bill D. has a good point, let the dumb ones get caught, and the smart ones disperse a little in the lake. I suppose the crowds will be horrible, but hopefully fishin from the old tub will help a little with that. I have banked fished before when they released trout, and it wan not very fun. Lets throw some times to meet around. There is a greasy spoon in Bell Valley called Mariann's Food Station that is open 24 hours. We might meet there about an hour before sunrise to get some greasy grub and then hit the water. FISH ON YALL!!!!!!

MUZZY MAN

02-22-2005, 06:38 AM
My cuzz will be there with his new boat. (new to him) So that is 2 boats on my part. I gotta stock up on Berkley Powerbait Hatchery Formula, and some jar baits, and some spinners. Man I cant wait!! I kind of hope for an overcast drizzley day to kind of keep the crowd to a minimum. Also a good 3 week warm spell to melt all the ice would be great too. Last year they didnt do a spring stock because of ice so lets hope!!!

bill dowler
02-22-2005, 07:53 AM
hey sycamoreredneck, they did stalk last year, because i was up there several times and caught my limit of trout.......just sometimes they dont do it on the right date due to ice, but the last time i drove by up there it wasnt froze......:D hope to see you all

Ok man I was not looking forward to posting this one........WE GOT SKUNKED!!!!! Beuatiful day, wispy clouds in the sky, sunshine a-plenty, a boat full of close friends, deer jerky and trail bologna and a thermous full of rot-gut coffee, the right bait and NOTHING not even a bite!!! My cousin had 2 in his boat and we had 4 people. He was using floresent yellow powerbait and we where using candycane white and red powerbait. He caught the first 2 and asked us if we wanted him to throw us a can of the yellow. We said "F no, you probaly did somthing to it, we aint using your stinkin bait!!! Well needless to say a boat with 2 guys in caught 10 and we didnt get as much as a bite!!!! Oh well what a fun time we had!!! They call it "fishing" not "catching"!!!!
