Well I went out yesterday down by Lake Hope. The place I wanted to hunt had about 6" of water so I went to my second choice. Since this was going to be my last time out I sat in my stand for over 6 hours. Didn't see a thing, I had forgotten my flashlight so at 5:30 I decided I had to start heading out because it was a 1.5 mile hike out and I didn't want to be walking out in the dark. So, exactly at 5:30 I lowered my bow and gear and stood up, as soon as I stand up I notice 2 does about 30 yards away as soon as they saw me they took off. They were on a trail that would have taken them right under my stand. This pretty well sums up my whole year. All the mistakes I made you would think that I never hunted before. looks like I'll be eating tag soup this year.

That sounds like a real bummer there. Some years are better than others. You still have a couple weeks. If you have other things you HAVE to do than you have other things you have to do. My dad went all bow season and gun season w/o much luck and then at the end of shotgun season he got 3 deer in two days. You luck has to change sometime. Each day you hunt you're closer to your next harvest!

I'm guessing that'll be the last time you forget your flashlight.:D

I would agree with countryroad. Eventually your luck will change. Sometime you just seem to have years like that. Iam sure that most all of us have. No one has any control of our luck.
Luck is the force that causes things, especially good things, to happen to you by chance and not as a result of your own efforts or abilities.

I'll echo what every one else has said. Just sounds like one of things. With two more weeks you have time to get another hunt in. Go for it.

Yeah I would like to get ot a couple more times. Just hate driving the 200 miles round trip. Gotta find somewhere closer next year. I have to go to training for a week just that cuts me down to about a couple of weekend days, maybe will try to get out one more time.
sounds like a mistake Id make lol

That's a tough break. There's still time. I can still show you some spots at Delaware which would be closer. I know that you like to hunt that area down south, but in the off-season especially spring and early summer you should get the maps for Delaware and Alum Creek and learn those areas. It would be a lot closer for you. In 2 or 3 scouting trips you could get some good ideas for stand set-ups. Then tweek them in season and you'll be on deer in about a 25 to 35 minute drive or so. Same goes for Deer Creek.
