I sent Horton an e-mail to see if they are making changes to the Hunter Max 175 for 2005. They replied and stated that there would be changes to their line and they are sending me a 2005 catalog and price list. I'll let you other x-bow guys know when I get the catalog.

I received the new 2005 catalog. The Hunter Max 175 has been improved to the "Huter SuperMax 175". Last year the Hunter Max shot at 345 fps. The new Super Max shoots at 320 fps. A little slower than last years model. I also noticed that Horton shoots a 400 grain bolt to achieve the speed results as compared to Ten Point who shoots a 420 grain bolt. The Supermax 175 comes in the "Ultimate Hunting Package" ($995), The Scope Package ($775), or the Bow itself for $650.
I kind of like the Hunter Max 200. It shoots the same speed as the Hunter SuperMax (320 fps with a 400 grain bolt), but has a Cable Muffler. Haven't talked with anyone who shot this crossbow with the cable muffler, but was wondering if it's any quieter.

i have the hunter elite and have it shootin 295 fps.i dont really worry bout the speed cause most of my shots are under 20 yards with it.but i have made one shot with this year at 32 yards with it on a wild boat and it hit him so fast and hard he did not know what too do.:D

Received the 2005 catalog last Thurs. The new stuff technology wise are the new DP2 CamoTuff Limbs and Talon Custom Ultra-Light triggers in the Hunter and Legend lines and Talon Custom triggers in the Explorer XL 150.

The Hunter Max 175 is now the SuperMax 175 as was previously stated.

Horton has also expanded it's noise reduction accessories. They include Limb Tuners and string stoppers to go along with the Limb Pads and MiniStrips for use on arrow retention spring and cocking stirrup. I will most likely purchase the Hunter SuperMax 175 sometime this spring. Maybe break it in on a spring gobbler!!

I hear them wild boats are pretty quick too, especially the jet boats. I have heard that shooting sail boats is like shooting fishing in a barrel though.

:p ;)
