The big pond up north will be hosting the Gander Mountain Grand National Walleye Cup National Championship tournament! This is HUGE. My uncle and I are considering entering this tournnament series this year and seeing how we might fare. With the national championship being on Lake Erie a place we know well and hold dear it would be very exciting to get an opportunity to fish that tournament.

I know Gitchagoomy well, I grew up there. Heck we use to limit out in 25 minutes and my Dad would be mad that it was time to go home. I could show you some spots CG.

The schedule has been finalized. I would have liked to have seen Alum or Hoover on the schedule, but that's ok. Here is the link:

I'm really surprised that there has not been more interest in this thread or this tournament series on this site. We need more fishermen here! lol

I'm gonna ask a question here. Go ahead and laugh. But could I take my 18ft. Bass boat on Erie? Ive only been there twice in my life.

You definately can. 3ft. waves and less. We take a 16ft. aluminum v-bottom boat out there with 1-3 footers. I wouldn't suggst anymore than that. Word to the wise: Keep an eye on the sky. Doesn't take long to get ugly out there.

In waves 2ft. or less we've went out as far as 3-4 miles. Just watch out for boat traffic as well. Some people aren't as considerate as they should be. Good luck.
