Pheasant hunting is an awesome time, there's no doubt. Nothing like walking along and have a cockbird just bust out of the brush!

Very tough (means more walking), but it's more rewarding when you get them without a dog. I use to hunt them without a dog and have taken several pheasants that way. It is definately easier with a dog, but just as exciting.

I saw a guy a few years ago on tv hunting pheasant with a longbow. I think it was Byron Ferguson. That guy is that man!!!! That can't be easy. Although for Byron Ferguson it might be.

I know of one. Outside of Shreve the DNR lets some lose around Thanksgiving.

I believe they are talking mostly about hunting the birds on wildlife areas that have penn raised birds released. I wish the ODNR would put more money into habitat than they do raising birds or buying them. I guess the habitat part would cost too much. It is easier and generates more money to just build a small dyke around everything and provide for duck hunting habitat. I guess stamps generate money and so do sales of lots and lots of ammo.

My dad and I would hunt around the Tiffen area every year when I was young. There were birds everywhere. Some of the corn fields were almost a mile long. Never walked one without kicking up at least six birds. What happened?
