Cleveland is hosting another major fishing tournament in 2005.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Cleveland announced FLW Outdoors is bringing its EverStart bass tournament trail to Cleveland Harbor on July 27. It follows a visit by the In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail last summer.
"We're looking forward to some of the best bass anglers in the country fishing the Cleveland shoreline of Lake Erie," said Cyril Hill of Orange Village, a local tournament angler who is working with the bureau. "Some of the best fishing in the country is on Cleveland's door step."
The EverStart tournament trail has five divisions with the top anglers qualifying for a fall championship. The Cleveland event is one of four tournaments in the Northeast Division. There also will be a pair of EverStart events on the Detroit River in the North Division on July 20 and Sept. 21. EverStart Northeast Division tournaments also will be held at North Carolina's Lake Kerry (June 1), the Potomac River in Virginia (Aug. 17) and Lake Champlain in New York (Sept. 14).
Brent Ehrler of Redlands, Calif., recently won the 2004 EverStart Championship and $80,000 on Kentucky's Lake Cumberland.
FLW Outdoors also has the FLW pro bass tournament trail and the RCL pro walleye fishing trail.
