A bill to guarantee the constititional right to hunt, fish, and trap in Ohio was announced Friday by State Rep. Steve Buehrer [R., Delta].
The legislation is set to be introduced this week, and will require a statewide vote to place the right in the Ohio Constitution.
"Hunting ,trapping, and fishing is a longstanding tradition in the state of Ohio and it should remain that way," stated Buehrer. "I believe that the right of people to pursue these outdoor activities should be strongly protected."
The legislation would continue to allow the state to oversee wildlife management, but strongly would protect the right to fish, hunt, and trap. Eight states already have similar constititional protections.
