Chef Q2XL

Would you see if Honda would donate the Lobsters for Deer camp this year. Ray will bring the Caviar and Cold Duck. I will bring the butter for the lobster and glasses for the wine.:p

Spitfire
01-07-2003, 03:02 PM

Spitfire

Dont tell no one but its a cover-up we poured out all the wine from the bottles and put Jack and Beam in them so enjoy, Hey also what do you think of eatting alittle tail around a campfire.:D

Spitfire
01-07-2003, 03:25 PM

How does someone stop by to say "HEY" ?

I don't need a place to hunt or stay I simply like to get away from my clients now & then.... Many times they are either my new best friend = they scored :D or they look at you with sad puppy dog eyes wondering how could I not put them in the super secret hunting spot that the others were taken too = tag still intact :(

I'll be good and cover my back tracks :D

Dear_Hunter
01-07-2003, 07:45 PM

Spitfire
01-08-2003, 07:36 AM
There has to be a list (menu) for every night we are at Camp. We have to know what we are eating on every given night. Isn't that how we used to do it C.D.?
Who got you started on that crap anyway? You never use to drink that girly wine, it was just "give me another beer"! Now its " pass me the bottle of wine please"!!! I'm surprised you dont have wine glasses to sit around the camp fire with your legs crossed. LOLOLOLO!!!!!!

Oh no Guys

Just heard that we will have a survival trainer at camp this year teaching us what kind of Roots,Berrys,Leaves,Bark,Grass, nuts and Flowers that we can eat. Dang I guess we wont need any cooks then. She is coming in from the University Of Notre Dame. You will never guess who invited her will you.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-08-2003, 09:30 AM
Hay you forgot the breakfast and lunch list and no way on saturday will i do pizza with all this good food being talked about and all these cooks wanting to shine. so i vote pizza off the list.

Q2XL
01-08-2003, 09:33 AM

Spitfire
01-08-2003, 09:34 AM
What is the deal with this wine? Who started it and why? Next year it will be Tea in the morning instead of coffee. Ya bunch of sissy's!

Q2XL
01-08-2003, 09:37 AM
hey tea now thats a good idea.what flavor of tea you like.and i aint wearin no apron there CD so of you bring them looks like youre goin to be WICKS CHEF ASSISTANT !!!!!!!

Caribou Dreamer2

Tea thats good in the morning too:o

Spitfire
01-08-2003, 09:41 AM
I'm not drinking tea or wine! This is Deer Camp not Sissy Camp! I have never heard of such a thing. All those great deer campers in the sky are rolling over in their graves right now.

Q2XL
01-08-2003, 09:43 AM
yea there smellin the aroma of the deer camp boys mornin tea!!!

Caribou Dreamer2
01-08-2003, 09:47 AM
Hay this is the year 2000, you never know what will happen hay john wayne drank wine so did Daniel Boone and wait intill next year when i bring some of that wild bird for to stoke up the fire with.

Spitfire
01-08-2003, 09:50 AM
And that makes everything right in the world. I sure hope your not comparing yourselves with John Wayne & Daniel Boone.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-08-2003, 09:52 AM
Nope just the caribou

Spitfire
01-08-2003, 09:56 AM
Well John Wayne walked with a giddy-up in his step and Daniel Boone liked playing with his musket and balls, so if that is who you want to be compared with so be it. It was probably from drinking wine like a couple of sissy's

Q2XL
01-08-2003, 10:00 AM
aaaaahhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhaaaaaaaa.how did i get involved in this .mindin m own buisiness and wham im involved now.:D

Spitfire
01-08-2003, 10:04 AM
You got involved cause you drink wine at Deer Camp. There is a place and time for wine and Deer Camp isn't one of them.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-08-2003, 10:10 AM
My whats up with the wine who care what you drink you drink mickslob and nobody say **** about that crap.Besides i still drank my share and some others of beer to.We better stop talking about beer again before we get into trouble

Spitfire
01-08-2003, 10:18 AM
Never, in all the deer camps that I have been to have I seen guys drink wine. There is just something not right about drinking wine at camp, thats all. Who got you started drinking wine anyway?

rjolenic
01-08-2003, 10:27 AM
They went to the John Wayne and Daniel Boone school of wine drinking. Now this is good stuff !

rjo

Dear_Hunter
01-08-2003, 10:33 AM

Dear_Hunter
01-08-2003, 10:37 AM
There has been a couple of low blows :)

rjolenic
01-08-2003, 10:39 AM
Not by me, I was just stopping in to see what we were gonna eat while at deer camp this year. Everything will be OK, if you want to drink wine and tea ... fine. I will stick with the regular, no problems here.

rjo

WickOhio

Q2XL
01-08-2003, 11:37 AM

Q2XL
01-08-2003, 12:05 PM
hey ITHOYTS did you see the menu.since we are the cooks let me know what you think and add or delete whatever you want. im open for more ideas on the menu.but not from the other campers.we are the cooks we make out the menu

Spitfire
01-08-2003, 12:48 PM
No ideas from the other campers! What the MOTHER!!!!!! You have to have input from everybody to be a succesful deer camp cook. If nobody eats your cooking because they dont like what your having there is going to be alot of wasted food. I might have to bring the triple burner coleman stove for a back up in case your servin up those crawdad things.

Q2XL
01-08-2003, 01:11 PM
okay if you want the other guys to have some input we will think about it

Caribou Dreamer2
01-08-2003, 01:14 PM
All yea crawdads can't bet them over a open fire just drop them in and here the "wine".

Q2XL
01-08-2003, 01:17 PM
yea hard that ITHOYTS another vote for crawdads and wine.need to get some.

rjolenic
01-08-2003, 05:14 PM
This is a good topic! Funny, and it gets your appetite going at the same time. I will be happy to make my famous venison backstrap over the fire using the ZALESKI GRILL (tm) by Hall products. I will also share with you a nice bowl of my famous NW ohio vension chili. Who else goes for rabbit, squirrel, etc. I will cook that up into a tasty dish also. I can provide perch and walleye if the fishing gets good up here in the lake over the summer time.

rjo

Dear_Hunter
01-09-2003, 06:59 AM
Ray

Back straps sound good I had them the other day. Doodle made some for us dang they were good. :)

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 08:06 AM
Hey Ray, let me know if you want me to get something. If it's rabbits you need I can do it. I'll get C.D. over here and we will get some. The beagle needs ran anyway so it's not a problem.

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 08:10 AM
I think my nephew is going next year and he can probably get some pheasant for us if ya want. I dont know how many though. If ya add a couple geese with them that would be enough for everybody i'd think.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 08:51 AM
Sounds good spitfire,As for pheasant we can find some farm and buy a few if we don't all ready have some used to buy them for $6.00 a bird not sure what they are now.But by going the second week of nov you will still have one week of rabbit next year and 2 months to bag up some squirrel for camp.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 09:32 AM
So do we have a rough menu up yet. We need breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Q2XL
01-09-2003, 09:45 AM
I AINT COOKIN BREAKFAST!like i said josh can run you all to McDONALDS:cool:

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 11:18 AM
Birds are running about $10.00 a piece now. Jonathan and I talked about going this weekend but I haven't talked to him since so I don't know whats going on yet. I agree we need breakfast, lunch & dinner. What are you complainig about Q2, it's not like you have to do it yourself. If I remember right C.D. & I made breakfast for everyone a couple years ago.

Q2XL
01-09-2003, 11:50 AM
i aint complainin .i know there are other people cookin too.

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 12:25 PM
Well then, we request breakfast every morning. Isn't that right C.D.? Bacon, eggs, scalloped potato's or hash browns, toast, maybe sausage, steak or ham one morning and some hot coffee to wash it all down. uuuuummmmm gooooooooood, cant wait!!!!

Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 01:14 PM
Yea don't forget those home fries either,And plenty of coffee for me to cold or warm it does not matter. It sounds like we will have plenty of cooks so no noodle you might survive one morning.but hay make sure you are up before us so that food will be warm.:D

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 01:17 PM
Yea, can't stand cold eggs or cold coffee. In fact you could always just bring it to us. Just a suggestion. (what do you think C.D.?)

Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 01:19 PM
I'm up for that. But just having it on the table will be good enough for me ,don't think i would want some of these guys bringing my breakfast to me in bed.

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 01:22 PM
You have a point there, forget the delivery, just make sure it's still hot when you wake us.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 01:24 PM
And try not to make it to late still need to get a shower in and still have plenty of darkness to get in the woods with ,so that means you boys are getting up pretty early.which means you will have to hit the sack early and that mean more cold one for me to drink.

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 01:28 PM
I'll help ya with those cold ones CD2, you need close supervision when it comes to cold ones. They need to be put on a curfew so we can insure we have our morning grub.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 01:30 PM
That sounds good how about 9ish that will give them about 6 hours they should be good to go one that many. That all a good man needs is 6 or less.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 01:31 PM
Hay with all this time on our hand this year we will need to find one of those biggg coolers that will hold at least 4 cases. That will be good for two nights:p

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 01:38 PM
Well 6 hrs. might not be long enough then we better set the curfew at about 8, that will be shortly after dinner and they might be able to drink a couple cold ones before hittin the sack. Why do we need to get a big cooler, we'll use Josh's cooler!

Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 01:43 PM
Forgot about that big thing man we are set then

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 01:50 PM
I thought you would like that. That cooler was huge, I could of put my 200lb. beer in that thing. I guarantee it will hold more than 4 cases.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 01:52 PM
Yea i agree that thing is huge, but if you have a 200 pound beer it better have two straw so you can share lolol.

Q2XL
01-09-2003, 02:00 PM
if you guys want that kind of breakfast im sure theres a BOB EVANS somewhere near by:p

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 02:05 PM
Ok, that's your new nickname "bob evans". Hey "bob" we need breakfast in the morning ya better get to bed!!

rjolenic
01-09-2003, 08:44 PM
Hey Bob, do you have the Sunshine Skillets available all day throughout the deercamp week, or is it just on Saturdays??? I really would also like to request the pot roast hash. Ccan we do all of these things for breakfast at once .... hmmm???

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 09:28 PM
Oh yea, anything is possible with no-noodle bob in camp!

Q2XL
01-10-2003, 12:17 AM
okay whatever i aint goin to keep puttin stuff down cause you guys are feedin of it.:D

Caribou Dreamer2
01-10-2003, 01:00 AM
Hay bob since your at it i like sauage, biscuit and gravey not to running and not to thick not to peppery or not to salty.\
AND DONT BURN THE BISCUITS.

Spitfire
01-10-2003, 06:55 AM
Yea, dont burn your biscuits!!!! I have some deer sausage you guys need to try. I made it from that last deer I got and it is good. The best sausage you'll ever have. I would be willing to make you guys some if you would like.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-10-2003, 09:17 AM
Will have to have a sample then how much burger does it take will bring it over.

Spitfire
01-10-2003, 11:39 AM
It takes 81/2lbs. of burger to make an entire batch but could be cut in half.

WickOhio
01-10-2003, 12:05 PM
Deer sausage and biscuits for breakfast at deer camp. Are you #$%^#&^$^ kidding me! Now that is living....................

Spitfire
01-10-2003, 01:53 PM
Sounds good huh Wick?

Q2XL
01-11-2003, 09:39 PM

Spitfire
01-12-2003, 07:54 AM

Q2XL
01-12-2003, 08:44 AM
yep that be me.

WickOhio
01-12-2003, 09:04 AM
Have to have a good breakfast after a morning bow hunt. Helps the system start so we can drink ourselves blind at night around the fire.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-12-2003, 09:16 AM
Ok sound good, thats the least we could do i guess since they will be cooking all the lunches and dinners you bring the sauge i will peel the tators for home fries ,We will fix up some vitals

Spitfire
01-12-2003, 09:48 AM
I'm not making breakfast for everyone! Heck I don't have enough sausage for that. Besides that stuff is to good to be squandering away at Deer Camp.

Oh yea I think it's vittles. Vitals is what your aiming for on a deer.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-12-2003, 10:15 AM
Thats what i'm talking about vittles for us vitals for them after i clean my buck i will prepare vitals for the rest for breakfast in the morning.hehe

Hay you should give up on being mr mom and be a school teacher with all this grammar and spelling correction.:D

Spitfire
01-12-2003, 10:40 AM
It just sounded weird when you said"We will fix up some vitals"

Mathewq2
01-14-2003, 02:32 AM
i will bring the sausage to camp if we have any left out of the pig we have in the freezer. You are going to make Ole Grandma Time the head chef. You better watch out then. lol

Mathewq2
01-14-2003, 02:33 AM
If there any ribs left i will bring them to

Q2XL
01-14-2003, 09:18 AM
if you want a full time cook at camp i think maybe MARHTA STEWART is available that week.

zfish
01-15-2003, 06:30 PM
I thought I was going to be a cook! You know I figured since Id get the 1st deer I could already have food by the time everyone got back :D :D If you guys need someone to help cook dont fear I can actually cook very well. buahahahaha just wait until you try it. Lol

rjolenic
01-15-2003, 07:04 PM
Hey there Zfish,

you're more than welcome to take the camp cook duty off of my hands, I will just be one of the cooler guards. Cool ??

rjo

zfish
01-15-2003, 07:24 PM
Its fine with me either way I just like to give you guys a hard time :). Maybe after shooting some with Desperado Ill give up the crossbow for a compound or something before the big get togeather. Id like to hunt with a compound but dont feel confident enough. Although after I get the proper setup I think Ill be good to go. I have a Hoyt Gamegetter II anyone have thoughts on this compound? Its rated right now for either 55 or 60# draw for the time being.

rjolenic
01-15-2003, 07:45 PM
Hoyt is a good bow! Hoytme2 and rjolenic both shoot hoyts and have nothing but good things to say about them. Go with it, and we will help you as much as we can! Be confident.

zfish
01-15-2003, 08:07 PM
That would be great. The biggest reason I am not confident with that bow is that Im never in the same spot all the time. When it comes to weapons I am a perfectionest and I wont hunt with a weapon unless I know without a doubt I will hit the target every single time in the same spot or within a very very slight difference. Also it would be easier and I could get more money if I were to sell my xbow lol.. I tried to sell my compound in September and couldnt get 100 bucks for it and 7 arrows with broadheards. Cant understand for the life of me why the bow looks brand new still. May as well try to use it :)

Caribou Dreamer2
01-16-2003, 12:16 AM
You will love a compound once you get used to it,I used to shoot a crossbow untill i met spitfire and he got me into a compound and now i'm HOOKED ,will never shoot a crossbow again unless a injury prevents mefrom shooting my compound,Practice with it all summer long and hit some 3-d courses and you will get the confidence that you need.We are all here for you if you need any help just yell at one of us i'm sure someone can answer your question among the bunch of us good luck.

zfish
01-16-2003, 06:25 AM
Hey thanks a lot. Lol seems as though I have a lot of offers to get out of a compound but Im ready to get into it and get good with it.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-16-2003, 08:39 AM
Hay rjo i see you gave up the cooking job this year already man the was fast to zfish we would be glad to have you as a cooler watcher. But old no noodle and zfish still might need some help so you cant go far your the back up.lololo

Spitfire
01-16-2003, 09:15 AM
Heck doodle said he wasn't a full time cook and was no MARTHA STEWART either. Is he or isn't he a cook? How bout it doodle-noodle, are you or aren't you? Hey Zfish, you need any help with that compound let me know. I wont hold it against you for shooting a Hoyt! LOLOLOL!!!! Seriously though, if you need help by alll means ask one of us. I finally got my father-in-law to give up the crossbow for a compound. He was like you, not confident enough with the compound to go after animals with it. After some practice he realized he could stack arrows out to 30 yds and got confident enough to take it to the field. He found success on a doe in November. He's hooked, it's like a bad drug, once it grabs ahold you can't shake it. He shot a doe opening day of shotgun this year and made the comment to me that he was bowhunting only next year. This coming from a guy that has hunted deer with a gun his entire life.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-16-2003, 09:36 AM
Man that sounds great about don i hope he is enjoying it like we do,Heck might even see him at a 3-d course this year A,Whats up with all our cooks backing out here i was hoping to see a menu by now.:D

rjolenic
01-16-2003, 10:01 AM
I feel that backing out of the cook job is thr "right thing to do" especially if we have som amny qualified people.

rjo

Spitfire
01-16-2003, 10:04 AM
I doubt you will see him at a 3-D shoot but you never know. I have asked him several times in the past but he always has something to do. He does always ask how I did and if there were alot of people there.
I don't know what the deal is with the so called cooks. I'm not doin it! I have done it for years and i'm on strike this year. I will bring my stove though for emergency purposes. I can always make my own food in my tent. I need my energy to get my deer out of the bottom. LOLOLO!!!!

rjolenic

Zfish,

Not that I am expert archer, but it certainly is something that you need to practice. Let me ask you about the equipment you have on your bow. Do you shoot with a release, what rest do you have, do you use a peep sight, all that stuff?

rjo

Spitfire
01-16-2003, 10:17 AM
I agree, you do need to practice. But let me say one thing, dont over practice because you can start developing bad habits. Shooting 10 to 20 good arrows is alot better than shooting 100 bad ones. The more you shoot in any given practice session the more tired you will get. Resulting in bad form and bad habits. Some habits are easy to break and others are not. If your willing to hear what your doing wrong and correct it you will be just fine. Most of us that have shot for years have had our share of bad habits and we were willing to listen to others to correct those habits. Don't be afraid to ask for help, it will make you a better archer in the long run. Take it from someone who knows, I was fortunate enough to grow up with some of the better shooters in this area. To this day, my dad will instruct me when he watch's me shoot.

I dont have the bow at my house at the moment I let my step brother borrow it. I have only used finger release, the rest was a cheap plastic one that was on it when I recieved the bow and the sights are cobra I believe the 3 dot true glow type.

Spitfire
01-19-2003, 07:25 AM
A Carp Bow huh? Do they make a special bow for bowfishing? I thought you had to have a couple fishing arrows and the points and possibly even a reel to retrieve your arrow. I guess I should have stated bowfishing equipment.

Q2XL
01-19-2003, 10:46 AM
yea mathews makes a bow for bowfishin called a sportsman.yea you also got to have the arrow, reel and line too .:D

it dont cost that much.about 20 dollars for everything.if you did it once you would be hooked it is a blast.

Spitfire
01-19-2003, 11:16 AM
I doubt I would get hooked on it. THere is way to much 3-D to shoot and practice to be had before the first leg of the triple crown. Beside's I am not going to drive to the lake to shoot carp when I don't even go up there to use a fishing pole.

Mathewq2
01-19-2003, 12:25 PM

Spitfire
01-21-2003, 08:51 AM
Here's an idea for all of ya. Since nobody really has jumped to the front and taken the cooking responsibilities, how about we rotate the job. I was thinking one person from our camp team up with one person from Wick's group would be designated a certain time to cook dinner, lunch or whatever. Anybody new would do dish's with Dear_hunter unless they are designated a cook helper. This would give everyone a shot to fix what they want and everyone pulls their share of the cooking. Any thoughts on this or a better idea?

Caribou Dreamer2
01-21-2003, 08:53 AM
Negative Here i like the no noodle and ray cooking idea that was better,Plus gives me more time around the fire to drink my beverage of choice.

Spitfire
01-21-2003, 08:59 AM

Ahh getting a little touchy here are we,Did not say anything about your chili just said that old chef caribou will have a secret for you guys and the first clue was its not chili.Nothing wrong with that chili there spiter, nothing beats a good bowl of that to clean out your pipes.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-21-2003, 09:32 AM
The water is about 1 mile down the road you will have to leave early to get it and get back to eat before it is all gone,You are right there spiter we will have to get some good towel those paper towel work ok but they really stink when it comes to dry off your dishes

Spitfire
01-21-2003, 09:34 AM
Not to mention you go through a million of them. Why didn't we ever get any towels? I can't answer that one!

Dear_Hunter
01-21-2003, 09:36 AM
Thank You for the info there CD2. Can I drive to get the water or do I have to walk? I have a 5 gallon water can. :D

Spitfire
01-21-2003, 09:36 AM
Yea, bring your hiking boots, cause it's a nice little jaunt down the road. Or you can get the fresh water down in the bottom below camp. That's what we prefer, the fresher the better. It doesn't leave a film on the dish's & the coffee tastes alot better.

Caribou Dreamer2
01-21-2003, 09:37 AM
I dont know that is pretty stupid of us ,will look the next time i'm at my wife favorite store and pick up about a doz. or two.You are right this year i was burning up the paper towle and napkins that nose was running faster than i could caught it.

The chili will have to be a dual thing going there. I make mine every year opening night as well. It will be a good mix of recipes!

I knew you made Chili as well so I figured with the combination of the two that would be plenty for everyone. It should be some good stuff, can't wait to give it a try. We get to sample it first right?

Oh ya you have first taste! I am going to make a special smaller pot this year that will burn the teeth out of your mouth. Very good chilli but hot as hell. Made with only the finest whisky and beer! I will have the normal pot for those you can't stand the heat though!

That small pot can go to someone else. I am not a big fan of real hot food. Sorry, but i'll have to pass on that. I will try your other though as you have to try my chili before they get mixed. We could always keep them seperate, they will get eaten regardless what we do.
