I was in the stand at the back of my field and at 4:30pm I saw the buck come out of the woods next to my house and walk to the feeder.....Then I saw my daughter letting out the dog....The buck also saw my daughter and ran to about 30 yrds away from me and stopped...I shot and saw the fletching sticking out....Looked like a nice shot....I went to the house and waited 30 minutes.. then my son and I started to track it....There was ALOT of blood and we found half of the arrow 30 yrds into the woods....we followed the great blood trail for about 200 yrds then it was getting dark and we came to a electric cow fence so I gave it up tonight and I will look tomorrow morn.....I cant believe that deer kept going that far cause there was so much blood...HOPEFULLY I'll find it tomorrow....

Sounds like a good hit.

You'll find him.

The weather forecast doesn't look good for tonight and tomorrow, but I'm confident that you'll find him regardless.

How much land do you have?

I only have 4 1/2 acres but my property has 2 good funnels on it and I have clover and turnups planted...also I have a corn feeder. The does visit just about everyday. Early season all I saw was does but now that rut is kickin in I see quite a few bucks now...My trail camera has bucks on it every night for the past 5 or 6 nights now.. when I get the buck tomorrow I'll post pics..

I think Im done hunting this year, its been real frustrating this season...I'll just take my son out to try and get his first deer then im callin it quits...I HATE when I cant find a deer this is only the 3rd time this has happened since I started hunting in 96...

Don't get down on yourselves, guys. There are some things that you just can't control.

Look hard and long, and if you can't find him, then he got farther than you thought and out of your range.

I understand your discontent, but don't let it consume you.

Things happen for a reason.

Think of your son. Giving up hunting this year because you couldn't find a deer doesn't send a good message to the boy. You're giving up for reasons that are out of your control for the most part.

well i think it was in my control....I should of waited a hour instead of 30 minutes...I found a spot where he bedded down...there was a huge pool of blood there...If I had waited he could of still been at that spot...Last night my son said he saw the deer get up and wobble up the hill...I should of waited...But most of the deer i have shot went down quick.. within 100 yrds...These Harrison county deer are Bionic I think...lol

I mean after you have exhausted all your options. You can't control him after that. If he's gone, he's gone and you can't beat yourself up over it for long. He's in a better place now......like maybe Guernsey County :D I'll let you know if I see him.

Guernsey Co. most definitely does not need any more hogs! :) I hunt a spot near Quaker City...I have seen some real wall-hangers out there! Hopefully, you can smack one, Jimmy.

I just got back again after 2 more hours of lookin....I think somebody else got him...I searched everywhere...Theres only about 4 acres of woods where he ran and then cow fields...I hit every inch of the woods and looked in the fields.. I found 2 stands within 200 yrds of the blood trail.. and I seen a spot where it looks like a deer was dragged. And found a partially eaten gut pile. Maybe one of the neighbors got him..I'll have to ask and see. I feel pretty confident that hes not laying out there. Back to the drawing boards...

You and me both!

Word from the locals by the cabin is that there is a 13 point lurking in dem dar woods. Just seeing him would cause all bodily funtions to let loose. I can't even imagine.

Keep us updated on what your neighbors say.

One of them might have been hunting last night when he came wobbling by.
