Definately not too early, but I've never put a ton of stock in pee pee. I've always had a ton more sucess rattling and using decoys this time of year, than by using scents.
Some rattling, tending grunts, and a decoy has been a lethal combo for me during this phase. A single buck decoy with a smallish rack will drive a mature buck absolutely nuts.

It's not too early. There is a lot of crusing and seeking going on right now, I think mostly with young bucks. However, I do believe that any day now that some doe could come into estrous and the big boys will definately be on their feet!

well tonight had two knotheads and their big mamma come in. one knothead came right up to the scent wick for a big wiff a that gooch juice, coulda whacked him easy, but mamma looked like she would do a better job filling the freezer, so I let him go. then mamma started stomping her front leg like she was at a hoedown, and they all turned around and walked back the way they came in. can't see how she winded me cause I washed my clothes in h.s. detergent and hung em out to dry today and bathed in the h.s. no scent soap, and did not work up a sweat goin in. I figure she got spooked when she smelled another deer but did not see it. I dunno, maybe tomorrow. at any rate, the estrous is working. I've seen a nice eight point in the same woods, but so far have not seen him since using the estrous. maybe he'll show up sooner or later.
Id say its def time to start using it.

I have had the same thing happen to me when using scent wicks. That's why I don't use them anymore. If I do use deer urine scent which I don't really like to anyway, I pour it on the ground. Deer can smell 100 times better than us and don't need hung on a tree branch so the wind will carry it. The wind will carry the scent anyway. It's more natural on the ground. Also, on evening hunts the down-drafts can hurt you. With the best of efforts to be scent-free we usually emit a little bit of scent. Make sure you're clothing is "locked down," meaning zipped up and all loose ends cinched up. This will help. I also cinch my pants around the outside of my rubber boots now so no scent escapes out the top of the boot. Just some suggestions.

I'll give all my clothes a double check for that next time I'm in the stand.
