Took the boat over to the marina yesterday for haulout and am now ready to concentrate on hunting. I hope the hunting treats me better than Atwood's fish. I just cannot figure them out and had an unproductive year. Maybe it was the up and down water level, but I cannot even get into a nice mess of bluegills, let alone saugeyes.
Anyone else have a similar experience?
THIS WAS A PRETTY GOOD YEAR FOR ME. BIGGEST WALLEY 30IN. OUT OF MOSQUITO LAKE. THERE ARE ALOT OF THINGS TO LOOK FOR. THE BIGGEST IS WATER LEVEL AND TIME OF YEAR. DOES YOUR LAKE LET DOWN IN THE FALL? BIG KEY ON HOW A LAKE TURNS OVER.:)

They let a bunch of water out in the fall and that's when we work on our docks.
I really think it's all about water fluctuation as this is a flood control dam and you know the kind of rain we've had the last couple of years.
IN THE SPRING AROUND THE FIRST FULL MOON,WALLEYE WILL BE ON BAIT FISH MOVEMENT. AFTER WATER LEVELS START TO RESIDE THE FIRST 12 IN, THIS TENDS TO KICK BAIT OFF THE FLOODED BANKS. IN THE SUMMER LOOK FOR THE CRAYFISH. THEY LOOSE THERE SHELLS. BY FALL START SEARCHING THOSE FEEDING EDGES,BAYS. NOW EVERY THING HINGES ON THE WEATHER!
