Who's up for a weekend Turkey Camp this year? Just think of it out of the woods at noon and around the campfire by 1pm. Think of all those beverages that could be consumed while waiting on a bird to get done cooking. Sounds pretty cool if you ask me.

Hey Q2XL, I thought you said earlier that you were going to take the shotgun. I think I am taking both. I will try with the bow but if I keep getting busted then they are going to BB's upside the head.
Whats going on Wick? Have'nt talked to ya in a while. You up for a few says of Turkey hunting?
wanna give them there birds a chance there SPITFIRE.will probably take both.
Spitfire
01-06-2003, 08:59 AM
Come on Q2XL, You said earlier you were going to take a shotgun. You have to now, i'm not going to be the only one with a BB slinger. As far as a bow goes, that would be great if I knew what I was doing. As far as giving them birds a chance goes, you can forget about it. If you guys take bows there chance's are pretty good. LOLOLOL!!!!! Like I said I will probably take both down just to say I tried with a bow.
I talked to the nephew yesterday while rabbit hunting and told him about Turkey Camp. He thought it was great and said he is already looking forward to it.

Spitfire
01-06-2003, 09:04 AM
Wherever Wick, it does'nt really matter. We do not have to go to Zaleski for Turkey Camp. We can go elsewhere. What do you suggest?
WickOhio
01-06-2003, 09:07 AM
Ithoyt's backyard. Just kidding. Got plenty of time but we can talk about it. Zaleski is fun in the spring like any other time and turkeys are there! Unless someone else ponies up for private land somewhere I do not know any other place to go.
Spitfire
01-06-2003, 09:15 AM
I was thinking Zaleski all along but if we can find somewhere else just for a change of scenery i'm all for it. What do you think? I know someone that goes a little farther south for turkey every year, I will check with him and see where it is. He might even be interested in going with us.
im takin both with me SPITFIRE.IF IT DONT SEEM SPORTIN WITH THE GUN ILL TAKE THE BOW OUT.besides might do good in the archery only zone down there .as far as you not knowin what youre doin.yea right.hey WICK whats up.

Thinking about turkey. But I want to try and get into the late season mode again. Deep snow and cold hunts the rest of the season. We have been talking turkey and I will probebly take a gun as well but I will give the bow a try for sure. Who is on for the third weekend bow hunt Zaleski? We have a count yet and confirmered hunters?
should be able to let you know later on this week.we got a lot of overtime schedualed for the next 2 months and not sure if that is our weekend to work or not.with this snow it should be interestin huntin though.

01-06-2003, 10:01 AM
I up for something dont really matter to me as q2 said will have to check work schedule then get back with you but as for now i would say i'm in for the hunt.As for turkey i'm bow all the way boys no gun that cheating boys area does not matter to me were ever there are some birds to chase around the woods i used to know of a few good places behind the college that held alot of turkeys we could try also.
Spitfire
01-06-2003, 05:31 PM
Hey Wick, if all these guys are willing to go I might just to do some squirrel hunting or something. I am not going to deer hunt because it would be my luck I would get another and I just dont have the freezer space for it.

01-06-2003, 06:57 PM
Wah, wah,wah ! Too much deer, that's like too much fun. I will desperately try to get down for the late season hunt, but it's not looking too good.

Hey there OLDHAT,
Have you been talking to Q2XL. I thought I told him not to tell anyone about my golf. Well anyways, I would like to hook up for a round of golf/hunting somewhere sometime. I live in Toledo and don't get out of here often because I am a Recreation Director for the City of Sylvania (a suburb of Toledo). That makes it tough to get away since I'm always busy scheduing leagues and administering my programs. There's always something going on.
But you're right with your handicap we could probably get into the money in a tournament or two. I was once going to become a golf professional (otherwise known as teaching pro) until I figured out how much time is really involved with that. Way more hours than my current stituation. Beside how much could one put up with teach good looking rich ladies how to play golf!

RJOLENIC:
I looked into the "teaching pro" thing while I was playing college golf. The Pro's don't do too bad, but "putting in your time" as an assistant..well, your pretty much sucking "hind teet" with the money they make. The pro is out giving lessons and playing with "the fellas" most days of the week while the assistant pro is running the shop. PAT (Playability) testing isn't that bad to pass, they ususally set it at 155 or so, so that wasn't even a concern, the "time" that would be put in as an assistant making $15-$17K/ yr was the issue that made me make my decision.
There was a time when I got in 200-220 rounds /yr, Florida and South Carolina in the Winter, gave up my bass boat and all my other hobbies (even hunting) for 3-4 yrs., just to hit that ball around. Played for a small college but managed to win an invitational tourny on "Country Club Of the North" (where the LPGA plays at in the Dayton area). My Old lady is one of those "snooty directors" at a hospital here, and she told me to quit my job and make a go at it on a mini tour...told her I needed 2 years of playing golf and nothing else...she said "go for it", I didn't (was an engineer at the time and hated quitting my cushy job"), so I didn't.
GOt a fellow now playing on the Hooters tour and another that is going the Canadian Q school come February that I am sponsoring...hopefully they'll make a few bucks to pay me back my investment, but if not, they are doing something I was afraid of doing and I am happy for them.
Hey RJ.....let's start a "GOLFCAMP OPENING" thread!..hehehehhh!
Oldhat
(that's where my name comes from, my wife was complaining about an Odyssey Golf hat that I was wearing at the time, was fraid and dirty, she would say "when are you going to throw that "OLD HAT" away!) even the pro in a tourny I was playing in told me to "stop by the shop once your done, I got a hat in there I'll give ya"...hhehehehe I've seen um' with duct tape on the bill!

Who are you kidding C.D., shooting a golf ball? It started getting so deep around here I went out and got the hip waders. I almost went golfing once and then someone told me that it was addicting. I decided I better not if I wanted to remain married with two wonderful children. The archery thing takes up quite a bit of my time and she doesn't mind. So to add something else is out of the question, besides it would screw up shooting the bow every weekend.

Been there and done that on the out-of-state tags. If we do this we have to be sure and put in for our doe tags cause there are only so many per county. Last year I was a little late on the punch and couldn't get one.

Back to the Turkey Hunt again. The first or second weekend of April would be a good time to go down and do some scouting. Is anyone up for it? Also, I wouldn't mind heading down to Indian Creek where Oldhat was talking and checking things out.
