View Full Version : Indian Lake 12-14 Ice Report 3:30 pm
IL 3:30 pm Report ~ via Froggies & da Moose on da Lake ~
Janet & I counted 16 Icers Vs parked along the Long Isle road & we looked across the bay to NF & there were just 2 guys out in front of Lucky's Duck Blind .. that's all I know, I gotta put da contacts in, cleanup & go back to da sauce .. workin' on a Buzz
.. I just got up at 8am & we have water on the ice in my channel .. it never setup last nite & after the last 3 days of up & down temps along with snow .. well, it has to be bad news I would think today.
We had a week and a half of early bonus ice is the way I look at it .. Round #2 comin' up :)
Presently we are having freezing rain .. but my channel ice was in good shape today as I walked under my boat & fastened the safety slings for winter finally. I hope to take a drive over to the East side of IL tomorrow afternoon to do a Long Isle, NF & maybe a MW & Crannberry drive-by check.
will post results if it is a go :)

This is not the long GFO IL thread .. I don't want to cross-link the 2 Ohio sites (as much as I luv links) ~ so in the future it looks like I'll be doin' alot of C&P  ;)

I went to the Southside this morn' & my Guess is that 80% of the main lake is open water .. channel ice is shot with edges thawed totally, but if the temps drop for a few day the backwaters & channels should be fit w/care gettin' onto the older ice ~ the question is are the panfish still way back in or have they moved toward more open water/unsafe areas for awhile ???

I'm glad I can get to open water here. I used to ice fish Irondquoite & Sodus bay as a kid(Lake Ontario). I used to freeze !! We didn't have a shanty either, just cut holes & watch tip ups !;)
.. with the outdoor clothing they have now, a shanty is not really needed to be comfortable. The ice season brings out Anglers from all walks of life to enjoy the sport & rub shoulders on the ice. Also the Panfish catches are the best of the year for size, quantity & flavor ~~ all-in-all it's the way we pass our time in the "Great White North":)
