Hey guys I was wondering if there is anyone out there who may be hunting in portage co ? I live in western Pa and have always hunted southern Ohio but i am thinking of taking a day out to try and see if i could gain permission in portage co .It wouldnt be a bad drive from home and I always enjoy trying something new .How about public land in the area ? thanks .........treetop

I'm from Portage. My suggestion is some of the LaDue/Akron properties or West Branch has some public hunting access. I'd only bow hunt both. Too crowded for gun season. Good luck.

I hunted Portage co. for 9 years...mostly on private land and had real good luck!....as far as Ladue Res. Thats Geauga co. I hunted public land over there and Its ok during bow season but gun season ITS terrable!!!!! too many people... I hunted off of Messenger Rd. in Auburn....Theres like 600 acres of public land.....I saw alot of deer and alot of turkeys..

I believe I've hunted that tract before with bow and muzzleloader.
That was 10 years ago. I think the same regs apply.
treetop, auburn marsh in geauga co. is suppose to be archery only for deer no gun hunting from what i,ve heard.if i was coming from western p.a. i would check out mosquito creek and the grand river wildlife area in trumbull county there is lots of land to bow hunt there and less populated than around the portage area,i live in portage co.so i,m not just talkin.also you have the sheango w.a on the border, lots of land there also.saw deer while turkey huntin at grand river, probaly a zoo at gun season, but scattered during archery.just my two cents good luck this fall...snag
