I really didn't know what forum to post this under but I have a question for quys or gals. Before I ask it I want to fill you in on my outdoor background. I have hunted, fished, and trapped since I was a youngen. I've had my share of success in the field and pertaining to the trapping end I became pretty good at catching whatever critter I was after. Now in my 58th year I have come up against what may be the most challenging foe ever to cross my path. This dreaded varmint has me at the end of my rope. What kind of creature could reduce a man of my experience to a babbling idiot you might ask. The great american ground mole, thats what. He tearing up my yard and having a picnic doing it. Yes I've tried the mole trap. I've also unleashed my Brittany (who can catch about anything) on it but to no avail. No I have not tried to kill every grub within 2 miles of my yard because I can't believe it would work. I have considered hiring a back hoe to dig him out but that would but me on the level with Elmer Fudd in his pursuit of the rascally wabbit. If you know of a way to catch them that really works I would love to know about it. Thanks a heap.

I don't know if this is an option, but what solved my problem was getting a cat. My mole problems disappeared immediately. She would catch at least one a day that I saw. Even in the middle of winter she would find them.

I tried calling Bill Murray, kept getting a busy signal. Cats and me aren't very good friends. I'm afraid I'll blow myself up with explosives. Don't know what flavor of gum to use. Can't fing any mole poison. Looks like I may just have to learn to like moles. Sorta like appreciating them as part of the ecological system. I guess moles have rights too. I'm getting so I kinda like em. Maybe they should be put on the endangered species list. See ya later, I'm going out to feed the moles.

This baby right here will take care of that mole problem.
p.s :then when you have no more mole set this critter on it own just like every cat owner does so it can reproduce like rabbits,Then if they get over populated our great DNR might opening up another season for us and charge us another 24 bucks

rat poison soaked in peanut oil carefully put in the holes works pretty good. Although now that I think of it, ever since we got a cat, the moles haven't been a problem.

A friend of mine had a mole problem. He drove a pole into the ground. Then he put this little airplane propeller on it. It was about 5 or 6 inches long. I think he made it out of wood. When you drill the hole in the propeller for a nail or bolt so it will spin. Make the hole a little bigger that it needs to be or on a slight angle. This is so when it spins it vibrates. It will kind of make a buzzing sound when the wind blows and it spins. He claimed it drove then away. The vibrations going into the soil.
If you have some neighbors you don't like, place 3 or 4 in an arangement so it drives them to their yard!:D

the only sure fire way to get rid of a mole is to mash the tunnel down and then sit and wait for them with a pitch fork or frog gig. I have tried everything from mole pellets, mole traps, wrigleys chewing gum and just short of C4. NOTE: after you kill him put him back in the tunnel and cover it up.

victor out of site mole traps work quite well for me . but here is something to try and it does work , i've used it . go to the store and buy some exlax cubes . put on rubber gloves , open package and break cubes apart. go out to the mole runs and take a stick and poke a hole in each run and drop in a exlax cube and push the hole shut . do this to every mole run you can find . wiped them of the yard and they havent been back since . wiped out the 13 lined ground squirrels as well. try it . or the out of site traps . mark

Minker, Man the xlax is a new one, haven't heard that one. It just might work. It did stop the cookie thief that use to steal cookies from the quys lunch boxes at work. He had the runs for 2 weeks. Thanks to everyone for all the ideas on mole warfare.
