Ohio's nearly a wasteland for trout. The only viable close option in Ohio for you would be Clearfork 1 1/2 hrs from Akron. It's a nice stream woth explring but still probably further than Volant. There are a couple more stream over in the area of Neshannock worth checking out. Cool spring has a special regs area and Sandy and Little Sandy are other waters that are more well known to people that chase trout in western PA on a regular basis . They're smaller and a more difficult to cast in but worthwhile none the less. PA fish commission website offers a LOT of info online in regard to streams with natural populations as well as their stocking lists. Depending on how long you want to drive there a LOT of oppurtunities up towards Oil creek also.

There are some private trout clubs in Ohio but they will cost you $$$.

I just bought a new digital camera so I'll finally be able to share some of the stuff I see including some trout trips and fly tying tips!

Post away! Looking forward to seeing how you're tyings progressing. :)

Yeah they're reasonably close to the same drive. Instead of going south on 19 to volant you go north to cools spring. Do a search on the Neshannock creek TU page and they've got some nice maps to other area streams as well as other areas on neshannnock.
