I'm pretty new to fishing in NW Ohio, and was wondering if anyone could tell me were I can find a good location for Crappie fishing, and also what seems to be working for them. I'll be fishing from the shore wherever I go.

Thanks
Paul

We have a string of 3 canal lakes in this quadrant of the Buckeye State. Indian Lake, Lake Loramie, and Grand Lake St. Marys.
All are shallow lakes with channels that fish move in to spawn in the spring and move in to feed in the fall (Usually October.) They all 3 have stained to down right muddy water.
But not to bust your buble, but I'd wait till fall. Summer crappies out of shallow water are usually "mushy". I quit fishing for them at the end of May and pick it back up in October (when I'm not duck hunting of course)
The La Su Anne fishing area in extreme Northwest Ohio is killer for large bluegill I am told. I havent ventured up there yet to cash in though.

I agree Tink. If you arent loosing a few jigs here and there then you arent fishing the brush tight enough.

The Sandusky river from Fremont to the bay is where I fish for them, using the same methods already mentioned at the same times the year the other replies said. The Portage river also supports a decent population of crappie between Oak Harbor and
Port Clinton, but I only fish the marinas on the portage in the spring. GOOD LUCK
