I still hate that they put Grand Lake St. Marys in the Southern zone.
I'd rather start earlier and be assured the woodys will still be here in good numbers then finish later in hopes that it may be cold enough to push flocks of divers down.
Has this change spoiled anyone elses last 2 seasons?

Not for me, but then again I haven't duck hunted in Ohio in about 18 years.

You aren't the only one. A lot of guys want it back to the north zone. The problem with SM is it freezes up so easy and by the second split of the south zone it usually is frozen or in the process of freezing. The second opener down here is usually around mid december, by then it is cold and your hunts on SM are limited once the second season rolls around. I see where you are coming from. I hope if they change it they keep it that far north and don't come down any farther because I have my best shoots in Jan on geese and ducks in the corn. A couple fields I hunt are in close proximity to pits and reseviors that don't freeze and the birds pile up on them when everything else freezes and I am about 300 yards away waiting for them in the fields:D

You are right on the freezing up part. But I have friends that are just goose nuts, and they don their pure white camo and take their field deacs on the ice. That works for them alot, because the geese fly the same route between the hatchery and the preserve whether the waters hard or not.
