Despite all the advice I've gotten Atwood still defeats me. I haven't seen anyone else catching fish either. There should be plenty of fish in that lake, but the fishing sure is slow.

So far this year, my wife caught a nice channel cat from our boat while at the dock and I caught a couple of small bluegill. We caught a decent warmouth and a couple crappie while out on the lake along with a couple minnow sized saugeye and a perch.

Tried lures, minnows, nightcrawlers and leeches. The catfish & carp hit on wieners soaked in Bang garlic flavored secent.

I feel your pain StarPup. I havent caught hardly nothin at all so far this year. It sure has been an off year on this end. I have fished Salt Fork, Seneca lake, Dillion Lake,Wolf Run, Buckeye Lake, and Forked Run lake and havent did very good at all. It all started the first weekend in April when we went to Tucker County WV to trout fish in the mountians and I was pushing snow with the front bumper of my 4x4 truck. I should have known it was gonne be a bad year right then and there............

I guess that's why they call it fishin' instead of catchin'. ;)

Hope you luck, and mine, gets better soon.

Me too. Round 2 in Tucker County WV, July 4th weekend, will be the next big test. Then a Walleye trip to Erie the last weekend in July, then a trip to Myrtle Beach to do some saltwater fishing in Aug. I have alot of big trips planned I hope it gets better;)

Good luck with the fishing!

Atwood had a bunch of boat traffic over the holiday weekend. There was so much that the lake had a mud line about 15 yards off shore. Some of those boats have motors that I'll bet exceed the 25hp limit!

Still, I managed to pick up a few white bass and a crappie. The white bass were nice size and the crappie was just long enough to be a keeper.

Our big meal came from a bunch of nice bluegills that my grandsons caught in a stripmine pond on my property. They were delicious.:)

Just to bring all of you up to date, Atwood is still not producing. I can mark a ton of fish on my Lowrance, but nothing seems to get them to bite. I've tried trolling, casting, drifting and anchoring. In addition to a lot of my usually good lures, I've used leeches, minnows and nightcrawlers.

I'm going to try going out at night, but need to find someone to go with me. Don't think it's smart to boat at night by myself, and I've sailed all over Lake Erie at night, but not alone.

I'm 66 and retied, but cannot find anyone else who is retired and his wife allows him to go fishing anytime he wants.:D I guess I've got a great lady.

Caught a couple over the weekend, but still haven't figured it out. A couple guys put one of those video cameras down and told me there were a ton of really nice fish down there.

All I can figure is that they have so much to eat they don't need what I put down there.

Start1pup......talked to a guy down at piedmont last year that fishes Atwood quite a bit. Spring is definitely the best time there. He casts Fuzz-E-Grub jigs almost exclusively tipped with a half a crawler. The lower marina cove is the best area and there's a ramp there he said.
But, that's in the Spring!.....Summertime is tough for all of us and generally daylight and dark have been the best times for me at Piedmont. Try Erie Dearies or walkin sinkers deep 20' & over. Cast and troll deep diving Shad Raps, a good producer at Piedmont for me. Don't overlook deep points, especially if you're marking fish! Good luck.....TF
