for the reply...
The bluegill are palm size and I am hooking them right behind the top fin. About half inch back. Sometimes I put one on back in the tail-fin area.
The shore, well I go down from the pier, the only time I like to get on the pier, is when I can get on the very end of it.
There is a couple "coves" for lack of a better word, go down past the second one about 20 yards and cast out as FAR as you can!
again, sorry guys I took so long for the reply!

How much weight do you use and what type of rig? Do you use circle hooks, if so, what size?

Well I use gamakatsu 8/0 circle hooks. If the bluegills is 8 - 10oz, I don't use any weight.
If it is a smaller bluegill I use a three way rig with a very SHORT leader on the hook and sinker. A three four oz sinker... Casting into the swirls and fast water, you want a short leader length so you do not get it all caught in thr rocks...
The new custom rod I had made is MADE for casting 12oz of weight!!!
Hope this helps!

Where do you pickup 8/0 hooks? Gander doesn't have any that big. Guess I'll give it a try July 4 weekend at the Pike.

Crawdaddy's tackle shop in New Carlisle Ohio. I think I may have picked some up also at Bass Pro Shops. I go to the one in Cinnci all the time. Never know what they have in the "In Store only" clearance bins!
You could try Bass Pro online, I believe you can order them from their site.
The 4th? I may be there that weekend , if a few things work out, maybe I might see you there!

This flatlander is headed south for the weekend. Any updated reported bites at the Pike or Rayland?
