A friend of mine from work brought me in the local newspaper from Highland County. Apparently in late May there was a confirmed bear sighting in Adams County. ODNR believed it to be a young male 2-3 years old. They had found the tree the bear used to use as a "sign post". Bear sightings in the last few years are on the increase. It went on to say that one bear was struck by a vechicle in Scioto County not too long ago. The article also said there were confirmed sightings near Fort Hill in Ross County, not too far from where I occasionally deer hunt. My question is, what do you as sportsman feel about the recent increase in bear populations in Ohio? I myself would love to see them in Ohio. I used to deer hunt West Virginia, and would see them quite frequently,(sometimes a little too close for comfort). The woods almost seem too vacant without the presence of a large predator.
