IL today (sunday)

just got home from IL. caught 5 'eyes and 5 keeper crappies. 2 'eyes were 20", 2 'eyes were 18",and one 'eye was 17 1/2". caught a couple more that were too little to keep, as well as several crappie and bluegill that were too small. whats unusual is that i caught all these fish under a bobber, using a #4 straight shank hook, at a depth of 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 ft. in 5ft. of water! i tried trollin' with various lures, and flippin' various lures in the "old lake" area, and didnt get a hit. switched over to minnies and bobber rigs about 10:30 a.m. around pew island and started catchin' fish! :)

been a long dry spell for me! :rolleyes: i might take a "sick day" tomorrow and go back!

[Spring fever]

Have done pretty good on the eyes till last week. Did catch some nice gills and some crappies mixed in with them but nothing doing with the eyes. Have never used minnows, just trolled for them but may have to try something different if trolling doesn't produce. Surface temp will be higher tomorrow so things may be back to normal (maybe). Anyway I'm going to be there and give them a try on Monday.
