When shovel heads get this big they look like a massive head with a little body, was cool to see tho.
I surprised that Misfit, flathunter, or Katfish hasn't posted a picture of one of their monsters (with the little bodies) ;)

What lake/river did you get that one at Misfit? Nice catch. Doesn't look as big in the little picture by your call name.

When the males get bigger they become dominant by fighting with their head. Dominant fish get the best nesting spots and thus the best looking females;)

If no overhead cover is available flathead males will dig a hole in a bank for nesting sites (with their head) I have caught several scarred up flatheads at Piedmont where they encounter small rocks when digging nesting sites.
Misfit is being modest when he doesn't reveal he took big fish in the Tappan Cripple Creek tournament on his first attempt;)

If Misfit reveals flathead locations he has to walk the plank!:D
I hope you follow our example and release any big flatheads you catch;)

eat 'em?no way.they're too much fun.some people do,but it takes too long to grow 'em that big,and you don't find them in any great numbers,in most places,so i'd just as soon see them all realeased.

Finally caught my first big shovelhead. Ill post the pic as soon as I find the usb cable (moved). It was 36lb 8.5oz and won me 100$. My previous biggest was 13lb 1oz, only beat it by 23 lbs lol. Guess what I used for bait?

Isreali carp head........ im sure some of you know what they are. Small bait fish that have few scales.
I was about to leave, had all my equipment in my car except my pole. Went over and started to reel it in and it started to feel tight, so I gave it a yank just in case. Then I felt a huge pull and my drag started to whiz, my heart was racing like crazy. About 25 minutes later a guy netted it for me and I couldnt believe my eyes lol. Carried it up to the bait shack and had it weighed, pictures taken. I had just made the deadline by 3 minutes or it wouldnt have counted for the 30-39lb 15oz weight class. Was really a blast
