Hey Wick, if we do the Field & Stream shoot sometime you can always drive to my place and then I can drive from there. That way you would'nt have to do all the driving. I go to Apache & Ross County once a year, I'll let you know when i'm going if your interested.
ross county and apache.hey i would be interested in shootin them too.let me know and will hook uo also

Man this sure sounds fun,I like your idea desperado,But lets wait intill it warms up alittle bit.Maybe we could all hook up at Logan county archers since it seems to be in the middle for everyone.Unless we could find another shoot that will be kind of in the middle for everybody that wants to go and shoot.Sounds fun most of the 3-d shoots will start in march but there area few around during jan. and feb.
hey ITHOYTS, HOYTME and WICK what you all up to. have a good NEW YEAR.hey WICK you gettin rid of your cold .sure hope so .there is FINDLAY, UPPER SANDUSKYand a shoot in LIMA we might be able to hook up at.

Hey bodoodle, I shot those new arrows after work tonight for about 20 minutes and I will admit .... They are faster and fly much straighter than do the arrows I shoot with vanes. Although, now I am shooting a little higher than I was, so I may need to make a pin adjustment. Thanks for the suggestions on the feathers to hoytme2 and bodoodle! They are awesome, now I can take 70 yards shots with ease! lol, joking!!!!!!!

I did lots of 3d shoots last year.Osta shoots and a trad. shoot at Denton Hill and at Cloverdale. Also did some OBA shoots. It is a lot of good target practice on rubber deer and its fun to be around other archers. But too many shoots isn't good for hunters.I will only do a few this YEAR instead of every weekend and holiday.I need those weekends to scout and locate a big buck.

Thanks for the reply George, I think I will keep the shoots to a once a month thing. You see I like to practice the way I hunt, and that's with broadhead on, not field points. I think that the shoots don't allow broadheads if I'm not mistaken.

No broadheads at a 3-d course but some do hold broadhead shoots close to hunting season. But on a 3-d course you are more after shooting the bow getting the feel for the bow and your equipments, the broadhead will fit in the picture later on.You need to learn how to judge yardage before you can make the shot thats why 3-d is so great you have to judge that target then make the shot.

I see the idea behind 3d now, thanks caribou. I will probably go to one a month thruogh the off season to stay sharp with my mechanics.

Have fun at it,Don't take it serious its a blast, concentrate on good kills first then start worrying about score.

01-07-2003, 05:28 PM
I will take it seriously though, that's my problem. When I get involved with something "competitive, I go nuts with it. Who knows why!

I think most of are that way. I know I am, I cant stand to lose or fail at somehting. If I do lose I except it and cant wait until next time. When it comes to 3-D I am competitive but I dont lose sight of why I am out there, and that is to practice for the upcoming season. As C.D. said, have fun with it and try not to get to serious.

Hey, I am the same way. My son got a Harry Potter Chess Game for christmas. He wanted dad to play a game so I did and it was very competitive. It's the same way with Madden 2003 on the playstation, I dont like for him to beat me but I let him every once in awhile. So I know exactly where your coming from.

I am all about that deer you see to the left. Other than that nothing else matters in my world. Well barbaque chicken sounds good right now I think that matters and those tails DH was talking about that matters to.

01-07-2003, 05:48 PM
I don't take it serious, I just try to make a killing shot and be done with it. I don't even keep score. Just go out for the tune up. It just takes the fun out of it when the serious archer in the crowd makes a bad shot and just brings down everyone with the complaining. Just my opinion.;)

When I shoot 3d I am not there to compete. No score keeping at all.I do not even shoot from the stakes.I act as if it is a real deer.I normally shoot at 15yds ,a couple yds to the right or left of the stake and look for the best way to get a shot thru trees and brush. Sometimes Ihave to shoot from the knees or lean out around a tree.I always get a perfect score(no reason to keep score card) doing shots I know I can not miss on and these are the same shots I use on a real deer. Now I also take my son and usually a friend or two of his and they keep score ,compete and win trophies and medals. That is rewarding enough for me seeing them shooting and the smiles on their faces when they get a medal around their neck.Rubber deer shoots is like a big reunion.Make it a picnic for the whole family.

01-11-2003, 07:00 PM
I set the course for Trumbull rod and gun and shoot 2 leagues at Nelson ledges. At TRG I try to set up different each month, and the Ledges has 3 sometimes 4 different courses to choose from. As far as keeping score I do but I rarly turn in my card, I like to keep them till the end of the shooting season just to compare the scores as the season winds down. Personaly I shoot 3 courses a week, and work on my form mostly and judging the distances.
I hope to come west this summer and shoot some of the other clubs in Ohio

That is what we do at our home course here in Logan County. We have over 100 acres to mess with and never set the same course twice in one year.
