Hey guys, just got back in from the woods. Saw nothing and neither did Ray. Unless you count a couple of dogs. Was hoping those dogs would push some deer to me but no luck. Did have some fresh tracks right under my stand, had to be in the last 12 hours. Was hoping to get another deer before the new year but I'll have to hope for one more before the season end. Happy New Year! Thanks for all the info about shoots doodleboy! Looking forward to hooking up soon!

I think I will have to go to a shoot every weekend just to stay sharp! I like the idea of going to the shoots at least 2 times a month somewhere nearby. Deer camp is a long way off, but it will come and go just as fast as you can blink !!!

rjolenic
01-05-2003, 07:30 PM
2 for 2, and the last time I have a party when the Steelers are playing the Browns. I'm the host, and the Browns fans are in my face all game. I just kept saying "Cheer for your team, but not in the Face, not in the Face." Well guess who had the last laugh!!!!
I will have another party for my Steelers friends next week when we go to Tennesee to see if we can redeem ourselves against the Titans.
Spitfire
01-06-2003, 05:10 PM
Go Steelers!! I cheer for anyone that beats the Clowns.
GO STEELERS BEAT THE TITANS!!!!!
rjolenic
01-06-2003, 07:17 PM
Thanks there SPITFIRE! You have to have a place in your heart for the Steelers since they usually start a guy name Jerome Bettis who came from the Notre Dame Fightn Irish! RIGHT!???
How many more days until deer camp 2003 ??
Spitfire
01-06-2003, 07:45 PM
You got that right! Once an Irish fan, always an Irish fan! I cheer for all their alumni regardless of what pro team they are on. Heck, I even pulled for a guy named Montana but hated the team he was on until he went to the Chiefs.
Spitfire
01-06-2003, 07:47 PM
I'm not sure what the dates are for Camp yet! I have heard November then October, I really dont know. Does'nt matter to me when it is, i'm there rain, sleet, or shine!
rjolenic
01-06-2003, 08:19 PM
The dates are the second wed in November through Sunday. So November it is!
rjo
Spitfire
01-07-2003, 08:17 AM
Well then, November it is! I think I will also go down around Halloween to Indian Creek with Oldhat. That area sounds to good to be true. I have to see it first hand and maybe we could all hit it at a later date.
Caribou Dreamer2
01-07-2003, 08:29 AM

now we know when camp is forsure.
rjolenic
01-07-2003, 12:37 PM
Hey Hoytme2, what are the exact dates for the cabin this year. I think I remember November 12 - November 16. Does that sound right???
rjo
Hoytme2
01-07-2003, 12:54 PM
Yep, November 12-16. we will be ariving about noon on wednesday if all goes well. Hey Ray, do you have all the food arraingments lined up?......... AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! Eat your pork chop!
rjolenic
01-07-2003, 01:24 PM
Yeah, you can just call me chef Ray ! I will do all of the cooking and I guarantee that you'll enjoy it so much, you won't want to go home to your wife's cooking, SO THERE!
rjo
Spitfire
01-07-2003, 01:35 PM
If you call coming home to a meal in a box my wifes cooking then I guess I will stay at camp. If your the cook, then I guess I will be your assistant. I do the cooking in our camp for some reason.
Caribou Dreamer2
01-07-2003, 01:50 PM
Why because you said that your were the chef and there is to much be#$ to drink can't give up valueable time to cook.Besides you sure cook a mean butterfly chop HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM yummmy.
Spitfire
01-07-2003, 02:00 PM
Ya whatever, I never said I was going to be the chef. I just know if I dont do it we will be eating cold cuts and potato chips for dinner every night. I'm not standing by anymore and watching you guys enjoy a nice cold one while I slave away over the stove. Nope, not going to do it!!!!
Dear_Hunter
01-07-2003, 02:17 PM
Hey Guys
We do have another great cook Q2XL He made some Deer today that was out of this world, man it was so tender and juicy it melted in your mouth. So we have two good cooks. :p
Spitfire
01-07-2003, 02:23 PM
I vote for Q2XL as ithoyt's new assistant so I can help keep guard with C.D. over the coolers. Do I here a second?
Dear_Hunter
01-07-2003, 02:32 PM
I second the motion for Q2XL For Chef:D
Spitfire
01-07-2003, 02:44 PM
It's a done deal then, check out the new thread I just started.
rjolenic
01-07-2003, 05:35 PM
Oh boy are you guy in for a treat !!! You will never want to leave deercamp if we really are appointed at the chefs. Well Q2, there our challenge!
RJO
Spitfire
01-07-2003, 05:39 PM
Make it happen fellas!! I wash my hands of the responsibility for this year. Ya know, this will mark the first Deer Camp that I have been to that myself or my dad wasn't the cook. Do you know how strange that will be. That dates back 20 years!!
rjolenic
01-07-2003, 05:41 PM
Now the pressure is on for sure ! WOW, 20 years that's a lot of food going through the old system.
rjo
Spitfire
01-07-2003, 05:51 PM
Yep, did my first Deer Camp when I was 10yrs. old, in Tionesta, PA. I used to love going over there with my dad. He would get up before everyone else and make breakfast. You would lie there in your tent and smell the aroma of bacon, eggs, coffee, fresh cut hash browns with onions and peppers added. Oh man was it good. For a week straight you would get better food than Bob Evans serves. I keep trying to get him to come back to camp just to be a cook but he doesn't want to.
Dear_Hunter
01-07-2003, 07:33 PM
Spitfire
Wow your camps with your dad sounds like a dream to me . Just think of being awake in the tent with those smell coming in wow it sounds so good. I hope that Q2XL and Ray will have us waking up to the smells of bacon, eggs, sausage, and good strong Coffee.:p
Spitfire
01-07-2003, 07:46 PM
Yea, that would be pretty nice wouldn't it. I here they are taking requests. Maybe we should request breakfast every morning before our hunt.
Dear_Hunter
01-07-2003, 07:50 PM
Spitfire
That sounds like a winner vote for breakfast every morning. You know maybe we better make sure that they won't have any Green Eggs and Ham.:)
Hoytme2
01-07-2003, 08:09 PM
Hey spitfire, you sound like you may be needing an assistant cooler guard while the boys are cooking dinner. I feel with my qualifications I am the man for the job. We could even talk about Tionesta PA. I was just over there for their deer opener in December!
Dear_Hunter
01-07-2003, 08:31 PM
Hoytme2
You have to be 3rd degree black belt in Ti Kawn Doe or a master of the Hickory nut crunch or a Golden Glove of The Hillbilly Hammer, just to watch over the coolers at deer camp.:D
Hoytme2
01-07-2003, 08:33 PM
Well I'm not sure what all that means but I'm sure I can hold my own when it comes to gyarding the life blood of deer camp!
Dear_Hunter
01-07-2003, 08:56 PM
Hoytme2
You got the job. Hey how is the weather in your town, we had some blowing snow today and it was cold.:)
Hoytme2
01-07-2003, 08:58 PM
Cold and windy with lots of blowing snow. Not very good hunting weather but thats ok cause I couldn't go out. Waiting for the weekend!
OLDHAT
01-07-2003, 09:07 PM
What's up fellas?
So, what is the deal with the late season camp @ Zaleski?
I think I'll cruise over and "shoot the *****" with ya fellas and do some hunting. What days are ya gonna be there? How much would I owe in "dutch" for a bed at the cabin (if there is room?).
Let me know the "in's and outs" and I'll cruise on over.
I will say that with my current status of owning a company and being an engineer for another, plans are hard to make because they usually get broken...but, I'll dry my best to make it over!
Oldhat
Spitfire
01-07-2003, 09:10 PM
We can always use another "Cooler Guard". We will be running low on them if Wick decides to do the barbecue chicken and dear_hunter doing dishes. Between you, C.D. & myself we should be able keep the fire stoked and the beverages cold.
Spitfire
01-07-2003, 09:14 PM
C.D.2 and Q2XL arent sure yet if they are off of work yet so they will have to answer you on that.
aint got no problem with helpin ITHOYTS fixin the meals.BUT AINT GOIN TO BE NO BREAKFAST.IF YOU WANT BREAKFAST FIN FOR YOURSELVES ON THAT.he he he.!!!and far as the cooler guardin goes thats okay kitchen will have one in it too.
Caribou Dreamer2
01-08-2003, 12:39 AM
Do i hear breakfast every morning ahhhhh that would be heaven i vote for that pancakes and eggs mmmmmm. There aint no way i given upmy details a guard dog it will have to take a big dog to move this pit from the cooler.Beside there is only two sides to a cooler and spitfire has the other end of mine so hoytme and wick will have to watch the other one while the chef boys are doing the cooking and dear_hunter is preparing his dish water.:D
As for off from work in nov.2003 that is a promise i'm off, already have it scheduled.
I vote for steak(deer steaks that is no cow at camp) and eggs one morning.
Spitfire
01-08-2003, 06:56 AM
No coolers allowed in the kitchen, we have to know that what we are eating is edible and not still kicking.
I was thinking we should get breakfast every morning. I would even bring some of my homemade breakfast sausage for everyone. Oh man is it good, it's the best sausage I have ever had. It beats any that you buy at the store!
Got ya covered C.D., I am going to be growing roots around the campfire until I here the dinner bell.
Dear_Hunter
01-08-2003, 09:47 AM
Oh no Guys
Just heard that we will have a survival trainer at camp this year teaching us what kind of Roots,Berrys,Leaves,Bark,Grass, nuts and Flowers that we can eat and also worms, flies, bugs and rotting animals.. Dang I guess we wont need any cooks then. She is coming in from the University Of Notre Dame. You will never guess who invited her will you. If you missed it here it is again:)
Spitfire
01-08-2003, 10:13 AM
As long as she stays when she gets here does it really matter?

Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 01:26 PM
I think we need to keep this one up top so steve can remove the old deer camp boys one so we can have more space to talk.
Spitfire
01-09-2003, 01:40 PM
Sounds good to me. I have'nt looked but did he remove some of those others that nobody has been on forever?
Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 01:42 PM

Spitfire
01-09-2003, 01:55 PM
No, not lately but it's been a couple days since I was down that way. Do you want me to go check it tonight? I can if you are wanting to hunt it.
Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 01:57 PM
If you have time and not busy.I know they usually hit that lower field pretty hard in the late season might give it a try if the report is any good.thanks
Spitfire
01-09-2003, 01:57 PM
I wouldn't mind going but I dont have my target bow set-up yet. In fact I am looking at sights as we speak. I want a new one for 3-D, I am trying something new this year for competition. Do you have an Extreme sight?
I can always use the huntin bow if I have to. Lets see how cold it actually going to be.
Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 02:00 PM
i have The extreme model 100 good sight ,been looking at the extreme model 200 in chrome with the dove tail mount for this year.i will have the model 100 for sale.
Spitfire
01-09-2003, 02:01 PM
I don't know if I want an Extreme or a Trophy Ridge yet. I just can't decide.
Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 02:03 PM
The extreme is a solid site no plastic at all all metal but alittle costly though.i like the extreme you will to i believe have you been on there web page
you dont want trophy ridge they are made out of plastic .buy an extreme good sight
Caribou Dreamer2
01-09-2003, 02:04 PM
http://www.extremearchery.com/ (extremearchery)
Spitfire
01-09-2003, 02:10 PM
I was also looking at a spott hogg, but not real sure about that one. Shaun's dad who shot out at the club last year has one of those Trophy Ridge sights and it is built pretty durable. I might get one of those later for hunting and the Extreme for 3-D.
good choices there spitfire .also heard the spoy hogg is a good sight
Caribou Dreamer2
01-10-2003, 12:52 AM
Good choice there i will have that model 100 for sale if you are intereste, still waiting on my bow money to show up to order my new site.i will sell it to you half price.I think its john copper? i heard was a good site also.you will like the extreme site..019 pins just your size.I also like those new one by trophy ridge.
Spitfire
01-10-2003, 05:25 AM
Your money is right here, if you want it you have to come get it. I am going to have the wife get me a Trophy Ridge Matrix for my B-Day. As far as the Extreme sight goes I already bought one but will buy yours also. Just let me know when it is available! Oh yea, that would be Copper John, not John Copper.
Jim Kennaw said he has one of those Copper John sights and it's a piece of you know what.
Caribou Dreamer2
01-10-2003, 09:21 AM
All i see, otay what model did you buy??i guess i will have to keep mine then.Copper John well John Cooper you knew what i was talking about.
Spitfire
01-10-2003, 11:44 AM
Yea, I knew what ya meant. I ended up getting the 100 but I almost got the sniper. I couldn't decide, I'll probably regret not getting the sniper. If ya want to sell your's i'll buy it from ya or put it on your hunting bow if your getting the other one for 3-D.
should have got the sniper it is the best one
Spitfire
01-10-2003, 01:58 PM
Oh well, I didn't see any advantages of the one over the other. The only real difference was the sniper has a round sight window and that doesn't matter to me.
Caribou Dreamer2
01-10-2003, 02:07 PM
Where and how much did you find your extreme at.
Spitfire
01-10-2003, 02:24 PM
I can't tell ya. All I can say is I got a pretty good deal on it. Probably not as good as you would have given me but still this one is new.
Caribou Dreamer2
01-10-2003, 05:12 PM
Secret A i see how you are thought maybe i could get a deal guess i will have to go to glenns

Let me see what I can do! I didn't get mine through any of my contacts. It was through a friend that knows a guy in Michigan. In fact I am going to try and go up there next Saturday and meet him. He has a big indoor range and the whole bit. He started out of his garage like I am trying to do.
