The river bank is lined with folks.
Was over at Fremont about 4:30. Stopped by to see how the fun was coming along. In the little time I was their (20min.) seen maybe 50 bass caught on live bait and another 30 or so on jigs.
I don't fish that part of the river so can't tell you much more than what I see. But the guys that fished live bait didn't set their bobbers more than 18 inches above the minnows. One of the guys was fishin a jig & minnow under a bobber and doing pretty good.
BTW
Seen two walleyes in a cooler -- 18 - 20 inchers -- You never know.

Wait until late June or July and hit the damns in Grand Rapids. The White Bass never stop biting then. The are almost a nuisance at that time of the year in those parts of the Maumee.

Don't fish too much now, but it's all I use to do up this way. Mostly hunt the wood patches of NW ohio now. But wouldn't mind wetting a line in the ole' stomping grounds if your in the area, let me know and we will hook up.
Where are you going to be fishing up this way????

Either Freemont or Maumee.. I wade over to Bluegrass when I can. Love taking my ultralight and catching some white bass. Every now and again I may be lucky and get an eye. Last year or the year before I caught an 8lb flathead fishing for white bass on a 1/8 oz jig with 4lb test. That was a blast! Only flathead I've ever caught thus far. Since deer are out of season I guess we can have a fish camp boys outting. LMAO Speaking of which where has wick been. Havent seen him around in quite sometime.
Well being next weekend is my bday it will be the week after that. Im ready if you are. Hopefully that will be right around peak time anyways.

Let me know if you will be in the area on Sunday next week, maybe I can talk HOYTME2 into "hooking" up and then we will go down to the dam. Or wherver you fishin folk think they are biting.
PM me when you have your details worked out.

Oh, by the way, Wick, tough to get a hold of these days. Even though he's one of my best friends .... he's real busy.

On the rivers, white bass activity remains steady in the Maumee River, with an occasional walleye still being taken, according to Gary Lowry at Maumee Valley Bait and Tackle. A few smallmouth bass are being taken, but Lowry reminds that the catch-and-release-only rule is in effect below Grand Rapids Dam for largemouth and smallmouth bass.
Some channel catfish in the two to three-pound range, and flathead catfish in the 10 to 15-pound range also are being taken from the Maumee.
On the Sandusky River at Fremont, white bass remain in good supply, with many anglers tight-lining minnows on the bottom in the downtown Fremont area on up to Rodger Young Park.
