All Ohio Deer Camp were ordered to be cancelled (by the DNR). There will be no deer hunting or deer camps in SE ohio this coming season due to a BIG FOOT sighting. I think George tipped them off ....... :rolleyes:

there are a lot but mostly gun,bowhunters generally are loners.they need to be in deer camps too,with their bows.

agreed! However, when we go to deer camp at Lake Hope, all of the cabins and camp sites are packed with bowhunters. We always make our reservationsthe day we leave camp to make sure we have a place for the following year. If ya snooze, ya lose!

It is summer time and people are working or running their kids to the pool or cookin out. Things will pick up in late summer and when kids go back to school. It always does!

I'm getting just a little bit anxious. The more I hear about football the more I think it won't be long now!

I have been re-roofing my house when it is not raining so I haven't had much time to be on the puker lately.
The Caribou Dreamer moved and does not have his system up and running to full capacity yet.
Q2XL is in the process of getting a new system so it may be awhile before he gets back on.

They were both here at my place helping me work on the roof Sunday and they wanted me to tell everyone hello and congratulations to rjolenic on the addition to the family.

well i think i had all i needed...an what i was glad i remembered other than muh bow an arrahs,hmmmm,everything is important,i'd say the gps/radio or cell phone,especially if you are huntin alone,you can hunt farther an better with peace of mind...i guess i would have taken a back up tab,since i lost mine,butt my back up is my fingers so no biggy...mostly go over a checklist with those you are going with,others may have something you never thought of...git in good cond.,i ran the big hills/roads of se ohio with my backpack,bout 60-70#...for a couple miles on weekends...so it was easy for me to walk in an out with muh pack an i was in super cond. for hunting.ed took some kind of pill for altitude that worked for him ,that could be important to prevent altitude sickness...

Shooting in the back yard everyday with either my compound or my recurve. Depends on my mood I guess. We try to go to one shoot per month just to stay sharpe. Shooting a lot better than last year. I think shooting the recurve has helped me become a better shooter with the compound.

I know what you were going thru!!! I went thru the same thing in the early nineties for about three years. It sucks, big time. The one good thing about though is you learn alot from it through trial and error. It made me a better bowhunter and it will make you one as well for having gone through it!
Besides, you know all the Deer Camp Boys are here for emotional support and your friendly hazing!!

you can go for ripley WV, To Nelsonville, OH about 1 hr. an 40 mins

or from Parkerburg, WV to Nelsonville, OH about 1hr. an 10 mins


I77 run by both parkersburg is about 30-40 mins N of Ripley

Get off on Exit 176 at Parkersburg. Head West on U.S. 50 until you get to Athens. When you reach the U.S.33 and S.R. 682 exit turn right onto S.R. 682. S.R. 682 will take you to S.R. 56 (approx. 2 miles), stay on 56 for approx 12.5 miles until you reach the S.R. 278 intersection. Turn left onto S.R. 278 and drive until you reach the main entrance to Lake Hope State Park.

hey spitfire seeing how thats my old stomping ground i thought i'd give some pretty good directions.


77 N to Ripley Turn left at exit (Gonna go approx. 11 miles) Turn left on Rt.2. gonna go approx 10 miles to y of Rt2 and 33 (will be Exxon station on right side of road) take 33 thru New Haven, Hartford then Mason. Turn rt on Mason bridge and rt again off bridge follow 33 to Nelsonville. Turn lt on 278 follow it to Lake Hope.

wow there is signs in nelsonville tuh lake hope,go 2 lights past rocky an there is a crossroads gas station ,unless they chaned the name...there will be signs there for lake hope,its some very nice country tuh hunt an visit,old mans cave,an ash cave aint to far away either,very nice country
