Well guys...Tracy (Ohioguy), his significant other Karen, and I are headin down to AL to shoot the Muzzy Classic tourny on Lake Guntersville. Should be a good turnout. Last yr there was somethin like 55 teams and this yr there should be quite a few more. This is a big 20 format with a limit of 5 grassies.
This is a awesome lake to bowfish and if you ever get a chnce to go there then go.

Thanks guys...I'll see what I can do about getting a few pics...Last yr we did decent and hopefully can do at least as well...This lake holds some monster grass carp...the biggest one in the tourny last yr was 77#...we put a couple 50's in the boat the night of the tourny....Our goal is a 25# average for our 20 fish...If we can do that we should be stitting pretty good...

Well..It was a interesting trip to say the least..It all started fri. night while scouting...While running down river my buddy hit a big channle bouy at 50 mph and mashed the front of the boat in on the right side...Luckily we were able to do some temporary repairs to get us thru the tourny.
The night of the tourny started out OK...We were the 4th boat out ( they let you go in the order you signed up in 1 min intervals)
We ran upriver to our first spot and did a couple circles then the other boats started showing up. We had a few fish in the boat but nothin real big. About midnight we decided to run upriver another 10 miles to another area. We made the run pulled into the creek arm. we picked up a few fish here and there but again nothin special. We did blow a good chance at a 30 poundish grass carp.
As we got back farther we trolled under a bridge and started getting into some good fish.. There were a couple other boats back there but they were way back in .We put one 40# buffalo in the boat and lost a couple others...We kept doing circles in one basic area and started picking up some good fish. Over the course of a couple hours we put 10 buffalo that averaged about 40# in the boat and I shot one that went close to 70#. We also put a mid 40's grassy in the boat. About 3 we headed to the bank to drop off some fish as the boat was floating low and we need to shed some weigh to keep fishing. We noticed another baot on the other side of the bridge flash us a couple times so after we dropped our fish we headed over in case they had a problem.
When we got over there they told us the area we were in was off limits for that tourny. Once they told us that we knew the only thing to do was head back in and DQ ourselves. It was completly our fault for not reviewing the restricted zones thouroughly but it was nothing we had done intentionaly.
So we headed back to the ramp and told the check in booth what we had done so we had to be DQ'd.
I'll post a pic of the big buffalo.

Man, talk about a let down.

But a #70 lb buffalo, now that is a fish. I would like to see a pic of that. I shot a buffalo back in the 80"s that was the state of Ohio record at the time. But, that #70 'er would make that fish look like a minnow.
