I have always heard that Burr Oak had tremendous bass and catfishing. Does that stand true?

I know burr oak at times is considered to be a top bass lake but with most lakes I think that goes in cycles, but as far as catfish its always had a rep there for channels.also there are walleye, bluegill, crappie and the dreaded carp.

I've never heard that about Burr Oak before. Guess I'll have to try it out! I guess the channels and flatheads are being caught in the shallows by the ramps at Lake Logan. I've fished fox lake for the last 2 years with success of only small bluegill/sunfish, and the occasional 1lb bass, lol. I've heard that Dow Lake is good now b/c they stocked it at the end of march, dam side, for trout along with Rose Lake (hocking hills region) for trout.
Please, anyone who fishes SE Ohio, post results!

Dow lake has some very nice channel cats, and a ton of crappie but a lot of small crappie.I have taken some nice bass out of there too.dow has had nice musky ,walleye caught from it too.trout derby is a big occasion on dow lake after they put the trout in.havent fished fox that much, but i do know a lot of theives hang in that area, gotta watch your car close.most of the margrets creek lwatershed lakes which fox is one was taken back and now private as lake snowden.there are 2 others closer to snowden and lots smaller, now private, one the state record bass has almost come out of several times.i believe it will happen soon-9-10# is common BUTT I KNOW OF only one person allowed to fish it,the others SNEAK IN,one of these sneakers missed the record by an ounce or 2.

Fox lake is not privately owned. It could be an excellent lake again if the odnr wouldn't have put all those grass carp in it!When the lake had weeds the fishing was great......

I live around Lake Logan and I personally think the fishing is hurt to it being totally over fished. For a lake being this close, I won't even fish it anymore. I caught a nice 7# Blue at Fox last year along with some good channels. For SE Ohio I mainly catfish the Ohio. I got good spots and always have luck.

I have heard biologists say the grass carp were not a good idea, but since they were bought by the odnr they will protect them until they die off naturally.Even if they have had negative effects on the lake.I guess they can't admit when their wrong.......Joe

i know that grass carp are very important to many who have private ponds and for golf course lakes.i have permission to fish the ponds at "athens country club" and made the mistake of asking about a particular grass carp i was interested in taking with my recurve.

what you said about dow, walleye i havent seen, but i have hooked a few bass and trout to only loose them to something really big, my first thought was musky, but everybody said there was nonoe their, well a couple of years ago the state put alot of trout in it in the fall. well after loosing a few to something really big, i finally saw one, it was a musky....is there really walleye there? lots of good bass fishing when the weeds grow up......great top water

almost every year during the trout derby there will be one huge musky caught in dow devouring that 10" trout that sumbuddy just hooked on corn or colored marshmeller or velveeta cheese.

i usually fish the derby every year just for something to do, but i didnt go this year,, maybe a person should try muskie fishing it? how come the dnr has no records of muskies in it?

they are far and in between...i really doubt there has been more than 10 caught.and i would wager they were all caught at the trout derby.theres not that many that anybuddy actually trys to hook them.
