I'm not sure I'm posting in the right place.......forgive me if I'm not. I've got a 9.9 Johnson that I use as a kicker. I'm getting some water in the lower unit. Have any of you changed the seals in one of those? Is it a major job or one that a shadetree mechanic can handle? I read something about pressure checking it to see where the leak is. Any tips on that? Thanks!

Your getting the water from the seal on the prop shaft. Most of the time its from fishing line. Changed mine a few years back, just cant rememember what was involved. It wasn't a hard task. Should drop lower unit and and also replace the water pump impeller while your at it. Could save you a headache down the road.
Sometimes you get some water in through the lower unit grease fill and drain plugs. If you tighten the plugs to tight after you change the lower unit grease, you wipe out the o-rings. If its alot of water its the shaft seal.
