Anyone know anything about Bruno Land Co. or have dealt with them? Was interested in a 5 acre piece of ground they had in a strip mine area. Only thing on the place is rocks and crown vetch. I called and they wanted 8900 bucks on a land contract. The girl I talked to sounded like she didnt care if a person bought it or not. If I was to buy I would pay cash. 1800 bucks an acre is too much for a piece of strip pits, but would like to have a camp near here. Im not from Jew York, but was wondering if they might take an offer. Again, just wondering if anyone has dealt with them.

Beuner land co.???? If so they are real expensive...You are better off buying from a owner or realtor. Also you can check out Kiko auctions they are a absolute auction and alot of times the land and or house goes real cheap. www.kikoauctions.com :D

Are you talking about Bruner Land Co.? Around here, if the land is buildable, $1800/acre is normal.

I think you're right MM. I see them in our local merchanettes and bulletin boards buying land all around. They buy cheap and sell high. Cant really blame them though for making a buck. Guess if I really want the place though, I could deal with them with cash. Thanx for the re.

205, I've dealt with them but didn't buy from them. They specialize in buying 200 acre farms and making double to triple of what they paid for it. They are typically firm on their price. If you don't buy it someone else will. Alice Bruner runs the show so you may want to talk to her. Last I knew if you paid cash they took 10% off. You may want to call a couple of mining companies. They always seem to have available land for sale. That's where Bruner gets the bulk of their lands from mining companies, estate settlements, and old farms. Good luck. Buckmaster

The guys here have posted some good information and it is Bruner Land Co. Also, Countrytyme is another good one to look up. These companies are not the cheapest in the world for land but if you look at their price for a lot in an area and then look up a lot on Realtor.com for the same area you will find the realtor listing a LOT higher. Realtors are driving up the price of land and homes, not necessarily these land companies. If the land companines didn't buy it, divide it and sell it for a profit then the realtor's would and I can tell you this much, "You don't want Century 21 and Coldwell Bankers setting the price of land." That's just my .02 worth on it.

I have not dealt with them but I can tell you I know of several pieces of property that they bought for $1,500 an acre and then turned around and was wanting $4,500 and up an acre for it. One piece was something like $8,000 an acre. I don't have a dislike for them personally but I'd start by checking with the local auctioneers. Ask around the feed stores (Landmark) and check the local papers. Put an add in the some of the papers. Basically its how Bruner gets ahold of land. By doing it that way you just go around the middleman (Bruner). You dollars fits better in your pocket than it does anyone elses.
Where is the land at? I know this past fall there was a big auction over in New Concord for a bunch of stip mined land. The county should be able to tell you know how much Bruner paid for it. That would give you an idea of how much a premium you would be paying.

I've seen what Bruner does around here. They buy a large chunk of land and then cut it up so you cannot find a piece large enough to hunt. What they do is ruin hunting in an area and make a buck doing it. It's a free country, but I hate to see it.

I've had ads from them checking on my 67 acres, but I recycle the ads. If I'm the last one standing in this family I'll probably will this land to the DOW or a sportsmen's club.

Developers rape the land in my opinion. Another developer bought 40 acres behind me and now I have to be very careful in which direction I shoot.

Thanx guys, Harrison County is where it is. I lived in Harrison for 15 years or so. Where I met my darling wife of 33 years. I know Bruner buys a lot of land down this way in around Wayne National Forest. The government bought a lot of old farms down here in the 300 dollar an acre range as parts of the forest. Bruner probably doesnt pay much more. A lot of the land owners around the govt. ground down here arent very fond of the forest. Reason is they say it drives down value of their properties. Understandable. Anyway, thanks for the re's. :) If I do decide to deal with them I'll shout. Like to have a camp up there.

Isn't that new, big Wildlife Area in Harrison County?

pup, a new wildlife area was started out Rt 22 toward Piedmont. I cant remember the name, but lies around 519 to New Athens then toward Holloway and back to 22 I believe. Wayne Forest has 160,000 acres last count.

I think the new Wildlife Area is called Jockey Hollow. I need to get down there to see how far it is from my cottage at Atwood Lake.
