I was reading through some posts and saw discussion about varmint hunting for yotes and the statements that no yotes but bagged several gobblers and Canada geese. These were from 2-10-04 and I am looking to get educated as to the extended season on these birds or am I reading this all wrong? Help me out on this. My thanks in advance.

??????????

Well, me and Varmitr hooked up Monday and went for a morning hunt. We saw crows, hawks, squirrels, deer, turkey, geese, cats, and even a few buffalo. Not to mention putting the glasses on a lonesome fire hydrant. But, no coyote. Tons of tracks and made some pretty good setups, but it just wasnt our day. They musta knew we were coming. Anyway, we did get a little target practice in. We both bagged a nice gobbler a piece down on the Georgetown road and 5 canadian geese. All n all had an enjoyable hunt with Victor. Anyone else do any good over the weekend? Later!

It sure would be nice to catch these people. One officer per county just not enough. I try hard to teach my son to hunt the right way. I know that on several duck hunts under restricted hours he has witnessed slobs who call themselves sportsmen with me.

Is there anyway we can use TIP to turn them in?? I dont know if statements typed in an internet message board is "admissable evedience" but it might be worth a shot.

You can read it yourself, its the first post on the thread titled Cadiz 2-9-04.

I hope there is some explanation for this, I doubt that anybody would do such a thing, and brag about it.

I blame it all on Vvarmitr. I told him not to. But, you know how some of these sportsman really are. Heck, I almost had to break his arm to keep him from shooting those BUFFALO too! Least Ohio Bill didnt bite.:D Next trip we'll see if we can shoot a GULLABULL:D

i think if you guy's were to spend a little time reading previous posts, you'd read that ohio bill has been seein alot of turkey around his new place and gettin excited about turkey season coming. 205 and varmitr were calling coyotes in his neck o the woods and were kiddin around!! jokin with ohio bill.
it would take an IDIOT to post somethin like that over the web.
205 has proven he's no idiot cause he calls in them smart coyotes:D

I read that post and even made a comment or two on it. Personally, I thought it was a joke. I read these posts daily. After a while you learn the personalities behind the typed font. Anyone have any swampland in Florida they are looking to sell? I have a fat bank account.

Glad to see that it was clearly a joke:confused: . I was just contributing to the thread. As you can clearly see I thought there was a good explanation for the post. My comments on the issue end there.

As in most jokes timing is everything. At that time Ohiobill had a pic' of turkeys in his front yard.
The only animals I shoot regardless of the season are coyotes & g'hogs.;) :D

(vvarmitr As in most jokes timing is everything. At that time Ohiobill had a pic' of turkeys in his front yard.

It's not a laughing or joking matter when it concerns poaching, it's not a subject to come onto an open public forum and make jokes about. I fail to see the humor in it and shows this site in a negative light, please refrain from future posts of this topic unless it concerns poaching not joking about poaching. Admitting that you shoot coyotes and groundhogs regardless of the season shows real bad taste, it tells me your not the type of person who makes a good representation of a member here. Putting smiley faces at the end of your posts don't make it right either, I see it as not a laughing or joking matter. Wanna poach, go somewhere else and brag about it do not come here because your not welcome. I think most of the members here will vouch for that along with the administration.......

Gee, when did they put a season on Coyote and Groundhog?   :D ;) Sorry OS for such a stir. I just thought everyone had a sense of humor here! The blame all goes here. WELL, XXXXXXXXXXCUSSSSEEEEEE ME. I was just trolling for an Ohio Bill, didnt mean to ketch a few suckers. But, I practice catch n release.:D And if I offended any REAL sportsman here. Im truly sorry. All of us better check ourselves real good before casting the first stones and start name calling. I saw someone in a post above call people slobs, yet goes to another forum and asks if he can trap and kill coons out of season!;) Get my drift! Later guys :)

hey ohio sportsman..
do you realize there is no closed season on coyotes and groundhogs?
i think varmitr deserves an apology!

i understand your point on the poaching but come on, know the laws before you bash someone like that.

OS: your alive!!! Man the last I heard you were about to be pushing up daisy. Good to see your still sucking air ol' buddy.
Well, ya know what I do w/ the g'hogs, but I don't think I ever told you what I do w/ the coyotes. Ya see I skin 'em, then I gut 'em & clean 'em up & sell them to certain ethnic resturants to serve in their buffets. W/ their special sauses it tastes just like chicken.

205: About time you 'fessed up. :D

After having a good nights sleep. How is it that someone who doesn't know the reg's can go off on someone else about what is being said. Is it because they don't even buy a license & get the reg's?
It's practice, not preachin', that makes you a christian, & I'm sure the same can be said of being a sportsman!
Yeah, I hunt 'yotes & g'hogs regardless of the season. Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall (except during deer gun season you're not to be shooting g'hogs :( )

I have to say the first time I did read the "post from he11" I wondered myself! After explanation it was taken way to far!!!

P.S. Hey OS how does any hunter no matter the species preferred not know that groundhogs are open all year? Are you a sportsman? Or just making money form the site? You were as frantic as an Anti.

I don't think OS owns this site, but he does have some validity as to the varmint hunting. I remember back a ways and well the varmint isn't exactly a model sportsman in some peoples opinion, especially when you drop it and leave it lie. I think that is probley what he was speaking out on, I believe there is a conflict of beliefs of moral values between the 2 but that's what makes the world go around.

you know, if your a sportsman why even question another sportsmans way as long as it's within the law, coyotes kill dogs, cats, calfs, sheep, etc. they need to be controled along with groundhogs, farmers love havin them controled, no more hittin hog holes in the tractor.lol.. it's a touchy subject, oh well, hunters must not fuss amongst themselves we have anti's to fight.
go out and take a few coyotes and groundhogs for a farmer and you'll be suprised at how that opens up the door for deer and turkey hunting, your doin them a favor..

Goodness sakes?!?!?!?!? What in tarnation is going on around here? I leave you folks be for a few days and ya go and get things all stirred up!

Ya'lls a bunch of ornery no good critter shootin fools then aren't ya! Well, count me in!

I knew 205 made that comment in jest. I know vvarminter, razor, 205 and those guys are good sportsmen. If you read the majority of their posts you can see they aren't a bunch of careless hellraisers. Oh, and Buckmaster you're killin me with that wit! When can I come over for some stew? lol
:D

It was reasonable for someone to question it and not understand especially someone new to the site(I think the first guy to ask about it only had a couple posts). However, some have been a little too quick to judge and could certainly learn from the experience. ;)

Hey Beentown, or any of you other bunch of ornery, no good critter shootin' fools: I had some trouble sturred up on what was one of my first post on this site over a year ago. If you want to read it for laughs go to search & type in "groundhog hunters", two options come up. pick the one w/ 77 replies, then go to page 5. Start reading at my post. Hooboy you talk about hot!
If you like that then go to search & type in "Resident Flying Squirrel." It'll take you right to it. I still LMAO :D :D :D

Those forums were terrific!!! My wife keeps asking me when I am coming to bed but I just keep laughing!!! I have to say the "Resident Squirrel" is the best! These people just don't have a clue. Varmint hunting is called that for a reason! I wonder how many people agree with these type of people. They give half truths just to get ignorant people to here what they want. BTW Ted Nugent Rules...for the most part anyway!

from the looks of it you might be the one who hasn't a clue, i'm not taking sides but both have merit. we need to get that bucktail dude back, he was good for the site. with that guy you get a moral responsibilty to outdoor sports and I like that, some people just don't get that there is responsibilty in taking care of the outdoors. jmo

Hey Ill take all the coyotes and young groundhogs you got. Just let me know Ill take them off your hands. Dont let em lay if you can give them away to someone. Ground hog is good eating especially the young ones, and yotes fur are at least 25 a peice for a ratty one up to 50 for a great one. Post them on here or the Mi site they will sell like crazy.

The MI site has had anti's post stupid things to see what kind of posts they can generate to use against us. A few inside jokes, from the site, have been used against MI dove hunters. The anti's and MI hunters are doing battle now and its real ugly. This is where all the concern over our inside jokes comes from. If you want to see some real intersting posts look up the guys trying to fight for the dove bill and getting shot down. So keep your heads up.

Varminter's post about bucktail being the a star in a new Disney movie was hilarious!!!!! Which come to think of it, it's just about time for the ole groundhog hunting to commence don't ya think boys. I can't get a gun as I'm saving for a 4x4 but I'll probably get one next winter.

Sal...I am all about outdoor responsibility! I use everything I take except for varmints. Mice, rats, groundhogs and the like do not get eaten except by the combine sometimes. If I don't control the population the fields are a wreck. I'll spend a $0.13 on a bullet before thousands in repair. I think groundhog is pretty tasty table fair. Coyotes I do keep the pelt. I miss the days of good $ for a pelt.

jagerdoo.. welcome to the forums.
first off, is there a law that says you can't shoot a deer just for it's head? or for the heck of it?
personally i would never shoot one for those 2 reasons, for i like to eat them!
so if one was to do that it's beyond my control, unless they are hunting on my property, that is the only time i have a say in there actions.

Welcome to OS also Jagerdoo. Takes a while to get used to the fellows on here. Most of them are like ole DaleQ and BearClaw Griz. :D Pretty good bunch of guys. Now that vvarmitr, should be named Outlaw!:) Just kidding! Most of the guys are true sportsman. I liked razors statement above, cause no two guys hunt, fish, trap alike or think alike. Morally having a conscious as to what you do with your game, to ones self is all thats important. I personally dont like killing an animal unless I use it somehow. Yesterday, my dogs killed a groundhog which I left lay figuring a half starved possum or crow might have something to eat. I was ok with it myself. Dont know if Im making any sense here. PETA would have a field day here.:D I have a little 3'x3' float in my pond that I place roadkills or groundhogs that I kill. Nature and the sun take care of the rest and feed my fish. So, all of us use our game in different ways and feel comfortable with it. Well, thats it!:D Dont beat up on me too bad guys.:)
