Olander...

[CMFISH 51]

Anybody fishing Olander Pond in Sylvania, Ohio??? Fished it the past two years catching dink gills with some keeper sized perch on tip-ups. We also caught an occasional trout and catfish...Lookin to see if anybody has ventured out there, and if the fishing is worth it...

I was waiting for someone to post about good old olander. ITs not past the safe mark yet..7 or 8 inches ? So they wont let anyone on yet. I try to keep an eye on it and will try to keep you posted when it opens, if you or Rj dont first.

I work right accross from Olander Park and will be happy to let you all know when the green flag is flying! The green flag indicates that the ice is safe there.

All info greatly appreciated....I am surprised its not at the 8 inch mark yet...kinda crazy on that rule, but o-well I guess they are looking out for there own butts....let me know when the green flag is a flying...its fun to go out somewhere close to home and mess around.....

its open guys. Fished tuesday by myself got 23 gills 1 perch and 1 12 inch trout. Fished today with a buddy and we got about 60 gills, 5 perch and I caught two trout, one 10 inches and the other 13 inches. Fished to the back of the park in 21 FOW with waxies on small black and glow teardrops

We opened the park this morning at 7AM. fished for about 2 1/2 hours and took off. Good luck everybody...

Did you catch the Golden Palamino's or the raibows that they release in there? Good eatin either way!

Every trout I have caught in there was a rainbow.

Hey CMfish I met you when you left and picked up a rainbow instantly then the wind picked up and it shut down. The older gentelman came out and he left after getting one gill I think. The bigger kid Chris and I fished together and hit it hot and heavy in dink city. Arent theyre any gills over 6 inches in there??? O and I might be in the Blade on Thurs due to some cute photographer lady. Well see.

Hey lunker...were you the one with the pike decoys you made? did ya try em and how did they fair out if ya did? You lucky fella, gettin to be in the newspaper...and to answer your question, i do not think there are any gills over 6 inches in there...they need to stock some pike in there and make them illegal to keep from the fisherman so they can clean up the lake and eat those small gills....those panfish are stunted in there because there are so many!
Nice to meet ya, maybe we can hook up and hit up some small ponds around here....Do you fish any areas around here...I fish Maumee Bay for gills and crappie, but haven't done so well this year. Let me know and maybe we can try to catch some KEEPER sized gills.

Yeah that was me!! Im a real celebrity aint I? :D That photographer took a shot of me and the older guy, dont know his name. If it makes it it will be in the neighbors section on Thurs. Yeh I fish all over. Ive been on 3 lakes in Hillsdale this year with nothing to show for it too, I think they are just now starting to bite. We'll definately have to fish somemore. Im going to try to make it to LSC this sunday but Sat ive got free.

Fished out there today for about an hour and a half and caught about 20 gills....close to same spot as yesterday. Sounds great Lunker....E-mail me at CMFISH98@aol.com and we can set up something to put some fish on the ice...

Let me know how you did. Want to take the 7 year old out fishing Sunday. So far this year we have done poor at best. He is losing interest. Gotta find some action. Olander is close to home. Been reading that Gino's in Michigan is hot. Have Vexlar, will travel.

Went over to Olander about 7:40 this morning to see if I could find you Lunker ... no one was on the ice yet ... did you do any good? ! Maybe next time.

Yeah I stopped at that new Walmart to get some mantles for my lantern and found the clearance section. I got 13 carbons with adjustable knocks for 13 bucks. I got on the ice about 8:30. Caught one trout and a perch about noon and took off. The wind was unreal.

Went to Olanders today to see how the fishing was. The 7 year old only has a 1/2 a day of school Thursday and was gonna take him there. Guess thats not an option due to red flags..... Any ideas?

O man they got the red flags out already??? That sux. Id go up to Fairhaven MI. I was there yesterday. The perch there are huge and they are tearing them up.
