Thursday night was by far the most fun I've had in the deer woods in my hunting career. My friend sat in the same stand on Wednesday nigth and saw several does and a few small bucks, so I decided to hunt there last night. The action started at 3:00 when a doe and fawn made their way within range. I was strictly buck hunting tonight and was pleased to have 2 live decoys browsing around in front of me. For the next 2 hours I was literally surrounded by deer, 3 different doe families and 3 small bucks left me unable to move a muscle for much longer than I would have liked. As the sun started to set I begain to worry about spooking all of these deer when I descended the tree in my climber. Out of nowhere a doe comes running down the 4wheeler trail I used to access the stand, I knew something was chasing her. A few seconds later an 8 pt I have several trailcam pictures of follows down the same path. He decides against chasing the doe up a steep hill and instead spars with a forkhorn for about a minute, luckily the forky fled my way with the 8 in tow. He stopped at 26 yards broadside and I let an arrow fly. He ran 50 yards and piled up, double lung! My best bow buck to date!
