I have heard that some scopes with variable power have a tendancy to change where the bullet hits when the power is adjusted up or down. Hve any of you heard of this before and does it happend with one maker more than the others? Thanks.

I think it happens more with the lower end brands as compared to the more expensive ones. I'm not sure if there's any one brand that's worse than others.

The cheaper the scope, the more likely this will happen. If you buy a scope under $200, you may find this, but may not. I have several scope that do, and several that don't.
My advice is to just use your a scope at the same power all of the time. I have scopes from 1.5X all the way to 18X, and generally sight them in at 4X and just leave them there. Even at a couple hundred yards 4X will let you see what your shooting pretty well, and at close range you can get on target pretty quickly.
