Well this year i haven't really seen much rutting activity yet and today i believe really proved it.....Was out and about 5:15pm a really nice mature buck comes strolling in 50 yards away and angling away from me. So i can call once with no response and then hit it again with no response. Then i doe grunt twice at him with no response and then i buck grunt at him with no response.....I mean he gets the the edge of the woods and starts looking into the field (corn just taken off today). I mean i threw everything at him and never got a look my way or any response....Anyone no if this buck is just not rutting yet or what is the deal??

He wasn't interested in anything you "threw" at him

A buck doesnt have to be rutting to respond to calls. They will respond to calls at all times of the season.
Anyway, I am guessing that buck either did not hear your calls or was to concerned about that cleared corn field. Sometimes, they are set in their ways. Other times, you hit the call and they turn and come on a dime.

I think they activity hasn't really amped up yet. Last night i had 8 mature does come out into the bean field I was hunting And not a single buck was to be found. If there was any hint of the rut really going on there would have least been some young bucks out there milling with the does.

Possibilities:
1) Al Gore and global warming
2) They didn't get the memo
3) They're waiting till next week when I'm on vacation:mischeif:
4) Maybe Bawana and allme are both right, and he was a deaf homo

I had the same thing happen on a nice 8pt here in PA a couple of days ago. He didn't want anything to do with my calling and just continued to browse 40 yards away in the thick stuff. While I was calling, I got the attention of a small buck. He came charging in and happened to cross between myself and the 8pt. The 8pt immediately ran him off. He didn't want anything to do with my grunts, snort wheeze, etc., but as soon as the small buck showed up, he went into defense mode!

deaf homo....that's funny!!
I always know it's getting started when I see bucks on my drive in to work standing in broad days light in places you will never see them the rest of the year. Seems like a pretty simple philosophy....but it works for me. Had the first one this morning!!

Same thing happened to my brother this morning. He saw a big wide 8 at 60 yards, tried rattling a little and the buck took off like a rocket. Cowardly deer.

See this is what happens when we have this many doe. It turns all the bucks into Lover's not Fighters :D. They hear a fight break out and they run away because it isn't natural. What a bunch of Candy A$% bucks we have now ;).

last night i saw a 2 1/2 year old buck hot on a doe walk by at 50 yards. the previous 2 nights my friend saw the same buck chasing does all nigh t until around 11:30pm. now no calls or rattling was used because we are just watching these deer. don't know what all this means but i would say the rut is coming around to the full cycle. i am unable to climb a tree stand right now due to injury so this is the only buck i can speak for.

I can't tell you the number of times I've had good bucks turn the other way at my calling...even during the heat of the rut and when they are all alone. I think Redclould stated it correctly about not having any competition and there's hardly any reason for a buck to fight. I have one property I hunt where I have really good luck calling and for whatever reason this place seems to hold as many bucks as does. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Maybe he had cotton in his ears????
Ok, I'm with the "they're waiting till I'm off" camp. :)
We've got a reasonably balanced heard where I hunt. Probably not 50/50 but decent. Then again we took out something like 14 or 15 doe last year and 1 buck.
