I fished the ice on Misquito on Sunday.
3 to 4 inches of very high quality clear ice.
I could not get to the spot I wanted to fish because not all areas of the lake had ice that looked safe. For example, the ice on the south side of the 305 causeway (against the causeway itself) appeared to have been pushed hard by the wind and looked crushed, fractured, and generally unsafe.
However, the ice near the cemetary was fine and very accessible. Unfortunately, I never do very well there and didn't do well Sunday...caught one crappie.
But...We have ICE! and it should be getting better and better by this weekend.
Please keep this thread hot and file reports while we have ice.
Thanks, Guys
Vince

VC,
Still cant figure out how you get all your gear down all those rocks. Would like to try that area, but all I can see is myself laying in the hospital in traction. LOL
Did you notice they have posted Housle Craft Rd. the entire length with No Parking signs ?
Have been down to the #305 area the past couple of nights and starting to pick up a few. Going to the Secret Hot Spot this evening.

Vince,
The hot spot paid off tonight my son and I got 4 nice ones, all in the 21-24" range. We also lost 3 before we could gaff them. All the usual lures bombed out. My son got the first one on a Chtrse. jig with a minnow hooked through the tail 6" off the bottom just dead sticking. We switched all our rods and that was the ticket.
Seen a couple of guys in your area tonight. Dont know how they got there.
Good 4 1/2-5" of ice now, looks like going to have to start bringing the power auger soon.

thanks for the update guys,i haven,t had achance to check the ice since sat good to know it,s there at mosquito.i was hoping the snows this week didn,t slow it down on ice making.do you have better chances in the eve- or mornings for eyes early in the season? i,ve done ok in the eve, but with early ice i wasn,t sure if it mattered. i might just have to get up there this weekend and give it a go.

Gave up on Mosquito a few years ago, not this season. I just do better at Pymatuning on the average. Haven't been out yet this season.

I usually do better in the evening.
In fact, I usually do pretty well until about 900pm if I'm on the walleyes.

If you guys use FRS/GMRS radios, let's decide on an OhioSportsman.com frequency so you can find each other out there. Channel 7/0 has worked good in the past.

I've been to Misquito 3 times. The fishing has been poor so far for me and everyone else that I spoke to...
Anyone ice fish on Clendening?
