For many years I have been a proponent and a fan of long rods for most all of my fishing. Muskie fishing finds nothing shorter than 7’ rods in my boat with the exception of some 6’10”ers that my wife uses. Long rods just seem to be easier for me to use. They cast better, they fight fish better and I just feel more comfortable with them in my hands.

nice read ray. I flew out of the chair like Kramer from Seinfeld and got on the phone to St. Croix as fast as I could That is one vivid desciption. After reading his aricle it makes me want to order a couple, too bad I can't afford one right now. I started out bass fishing using short rods and now I use 6 1/2 and sevens. Better distance and accuracy. Now when one piece 8 ftrs. come into my price range I am gonna get a couple.
