What does everyone do for a harness in a hang on? I am going to use a ladder, not steps to get into the stand. I have a Seat-o-the-pants for my climber but I'm not sure if that would work as well for the hang on, mainly the climbing the ladder.
Thanks.

I usually don't strap in my harness until I get to the top, but I think you are talking about something similar to the "Fall Guy":

A little pricey IMO. I usually tried to pull my bow and pack up with a rope that way I have two hands and a foot on my steps/stick all the way up. Then when I get to the top I strap on my harness THEN step out onto the platform. Then I pull my pack and bow up and i'm ready to go. Just my $0.02!

The trick with those ropes you hang from the stand that you can be tethered to on the climb in and out is that somehow you have to get it up there, attached to the tree, the first time without it. I mean think about it.
While I am climbing, if I use it (and I admit, I don't always while climbing or hanging sticks), I use a lineman's style strap that came with my harness. It attaches sort of at the hips in metal rings. I mainly use it for hanging/removing my stand, that's when I always have it on. It allows me to use both hands to hang the stand or take it down without worrying about falling. It is a Gorilla harness that came with a stand. It's simple, light, easy to wear, and works well. Really any harness should work well for hunting in it, if you need something while climbing you may want one with a lineman's style belt/strap. It's a pretty common thing.
I use the lineman's belt/strap of my harness to get me to the point where I get in the stand, and then before I step foot in the stand I attach my safety rope to the tree. Then I strap my harness to the rope and step in. I think the stats back it up, and it's also my opinion from experience, that the most dangerous times are getting in and out of a hang-on stand. Getting in and coming out, I am strapped to the tree.

I use the Seat O the Pants harness for my hang on. I just use the linemans belt as I go up. I slipped on a step once and it kept from sliding down the tree and was able to catch myself on my climbing stick.
