I honestly don't think that casinos will do Ohio any good. :nono: Just my opinion.
:nono: I'll vote no on it. Don't see any good coming out of it.

In my line of work I go to a lot of casinos down south for meetings and its just sad to see who they prey on, many of the patrons are pulling oxygen bottles behind there walkers and wheel chairs, it is just a sad place to be. I personally don't want anything to do with them.

The AFL-CIO, FOP and UAW all support issue 3.. Remember what happened the last time they endorsed something..... Enough said..
It may generate a little extra cash for the state BUT usially its a wash for the general public. When they get something new in,(like the lottery) they take it away from somewhere else.:nono:

For me personally, I wouldn't benefit much from it and probably will vote no.
Nothing against people that support it but I have enough hobbies already! It would bring in some extra cash but I don't think the people that live in the cities where the casinos will be going in will be thrilled with all the other "negative" stuff that casinos bring in the town.

I tend to be somewhat libertarian on these types of issues but I can't vote to allow a small group to have a monopoly in the state.
As far as it helping the economy other then Vegas I've never seen it help the local economy anywhere.

Well, the way it should work is that a patron to the casino will only spend what he/she would consider "expendable income". However, if that patron did not go to the casino he/she may likely spend that income elsewhere within the state. Now, I know....some will go out of state and "gamble" anyway and now those dollars are lost forever right. So, all of the states around us are getting "rich" off the tax dollars right?
I have my doubts.
I was on the fence, but I did a quick google search on the affects of casinos on local communities and I didn't really like what I seeing. It's not a drastic doom and gloom, but It doesn't paint a very appealing light. If people want to gamble they can go where it is legal and I have no problem with Ohio losing out on that tax revenue. I don't think it or the job creation hoopla is enough to offset the negatives of having legalized gambling.

Anyone ever go to the ones in Detroit....Talk about a sketchy part of town.

I'm not for it. If they want to legalize something it should be legal for everyone, not just a select group or a few cities. What about the taxes generated from it? I think it should lower the taxes for everyone in the state but it won't. I think every town and individual should have the same opportunity.
I also don't think it will do much for unemployment in Ohio. What about all the local businesses that will suffer from locals spending their money at the casinos instead of the local businesses they shop and eat at now, that will cause even more jobs lost and more of our money heading out of state
