Anyone Got any good info for hunting in Penn? Im looking for public land on the west side, Starting next Sept. Im going to be going to school over there, and I know its only 4 hours from home, but on the weekends I thought about hunting a couple times over there. Btw I will be a little east of Pittsburg in Blairsville.

I live a little south of Pittsburgh and I occassionally hunt public land around here. The early season up to early November can be good as well as late season. Careful if you try to go public land during gun season. Too many dumba$$es shooting like there is no tomorrow.
I normally hunt some public land south west of Pittsburgh in Washington county or area 2A.
Check the PA Game Comission website for maps.

You're not going to St. Vinny's are you?
Out of state permit is like $125
Good news, I'll only be 2 hours away ;)

You better real the rule books real well. all kinds of screwy laws in Pa., dont dare pickup a deer skull. I think corn piles and rotten apple piles are illegal. Tinks buck lure was illegal. and just having an Ohio plate on your car will attract the junior jet asst game wardens who are unpaid. Oh yea, if its not posted, you can hunt. but dont dare park at some rural cemetary. Its illegal to hunt in a cemetary.

Here's a great site listing over 200 public land areas in Penn and giving GPS coordinate for each of them: http://www.accesstheoutdoors.com/maps Change the state to PA and select the deer and you are good to go

No, Im going to Wyotech. I havent decided if I want to hunt out there or not, but i'd like to try it.
OH.88 we have over 1 million acres open to hunting that is owned by the hunters of PA., Like mentioned before just pick up an atlas.
Also I would go to www.huntingpa.com and ask, im sure you will get lots of advice.
antiqucycle, better re read the rules again, you are NOT permitted to hunt land that is not posted without the permission of the owner. The law states that land does not need to be posted to enforce trespassing.
Baiting is legal but only in SRA.'s (which 88 will be near) Though most PA. hunters consider hunters who bait to be lazy slob hunters. (dont even ask about what they think about hunters that are not disabled that use crossbows) Using Tinks and other deer lure is 100% legal. And it is also legal to hunt in a cemetary as long as you have permission.
