This is a thread I've wanted to start for a while now and I figure the eve of one of the darkest day's this country has ever witnessed, was as good a time as any. It seems like it is human nature these days to focus on the negative. We are confronted with it on a daily basis. I have to admit that I am perhaps a bad American because I choose to ignore the negativity and focus on what's good. I was blessed with being born and raised in the country and I get to live the small-town American life on a daily basis. I see things that make proud to be a country boy and that in turn, makes me proud to be an American. No matter the trials and tribulations this country may face today and in the future, I am damn proud to be a simple old country boy living in America. With that being said, I'd like this thread to serve as a positive reminder of why this is the greatest country on Earth. If you see something that makes you proud, share it with us. There is good all around us and I figure its time be share some of that good!!!
The thing I saw tonight that made me proud to be an American was the pride and excitement in my little cousin's face tonight when he returned with two squirrels and informed me that he: "had enough squirrel hides to make his squirrel skin hat." I laughed and went out to feed the cows with my uncle. When I was done feeding I hopped in the Jeep to film some deer and as I was pulling out, I see him on the basketball court skinning squirrels!
Ain't it good to be American!!!

The eve of the darkest day this county has ever faced  A bit mellodramitic maybe, considering the civil war, 1918 flu pandimic, WWI WWII, the great depression, the dust bowl and the many wars and problems that are to many to mention. And look around at what a great country we still live in, because of all this history, we have been and continue to be blessed in this country, and yes it may end one day but I could walk out and write all day about the great things I see. One of my favorites is working on the farm with my dad as the last poster said because I know those days won't last forever.
GOD has blessed America.

Thanks for the history lesson. But reread what I wrote...

For my generation, it is the darkest day, at least in my opinion. And I certainly think it ranks near the top...

To go negative for a sec then back to positive..
Negative.. You have only seen the beginning of bad Jesse....
Positive...
I still own guns. And will until the day i die. Be it natural or by the hand of the person who comes to get them..
I can still Hunt, Well until Obams regulatory Czar allows deer to sue me..
I have a Job.. And i get to keep a whole 6 months salary from it.
I have some beautiful countryside...
I have my health, That is until i need Oamacare
I have a retirement package of social security.. If it doesn't go bankrupt like projected in 2019
I have a truck, too bad it's made by Government motors.
I have a home, Well technically the Chinese own my mortgage company due to bailouts so they own it.. But I'm paying it off...
I have freedom of speech... To bad the speaker of the house calls me a Nazi for using it..
I have the greatest military men and women in the world.

What Jackalope said above plus:
I have my integrity and character. Which Obama and the gang will never have and cannot take from me.
I have my faith. Which Obama claims to have, but mine says "Shall not have any other Gods" and I haven't figured out yet how you can be Muslim and Christian. I will keep figuring that one out and get back to ya. I know I have my faith though. They can't take it.
I also have my family. Doesn't get any better than that. Proud moment for you Jesse? I would never stop typing. Every moment with them in this country is a proud moment. I will share one I know you can appreciate. Put in a last minute food plot yesterday with the kids. 5 and 7 and they were out raking it in with me. That is a proud moment!

I hunt, fish, hike, canoe, shoot all I want, own my own house and a little cabin in the woods. I have all that and was still able to serve my country under fire at war. Also, I have a great family including one wife of over 40 years and two children with professional careers that do not owe a dime for their schooling. I have all this and still got to vote against a guy that took us to war against a country that did nothing to us even though it was dictated by one nasty (now dead) guy. I got to vote for one of the smartest presidents we have ever had, the same guy who took on one of the worst economic disasters ever, the most expensive health care in the world (and not the best), and two wars..... and accepts it all. I also live in a country that accepts my religion as it does all others or none.
I may be different that the typical reader of outdoor forums, but I got a good education paid for by myself at state schools and colleges, and have enough confidence and pride to read, with respect, the opinions of others. I am going to fish tomorrow, hunt doves on Wednesday, and hunt squirrels on Thursday. Oh yes, I am going to a political meeting also. Thank you fellow veterans for my right to vote and to attend meetings without fear. Thanks mostly to the KIA's, some of whom died while I was there.
