Old school climber. I have seen them used by people much larger than myself and they do the job, they do tear up the trees though. My advise (if you have a choice) is to buy one with cables. I have an ameristep Non-typical and I really like it. Not sure how comfortable your stand would be for an extended sit.

As with any stand, Not without a harness. But yes I would use it. A couple of tips though, tie a string between the two sections. In case the bottom part somehow starts to fall the string stops it from falling all the way. Also, I would get a rubber bungee and hook it at the bar where it is behind the tree and pull the bungee around the tree and hook it on the other side once you are a the height you want to hunt. It keeps tension bewteen the stand and tree.

I would use it for scrap metal.

Not only would I use the stand, I'd cut down the wind chime and use it for silverware in a survival situation. ;):D

Dang Cream, you stole my thunder on the silverware wind chime. :( I would add that the spoons can be used for fishing spoons if yo remove the handle and add two holes on each side. I have a friend that does that.
Now on the stand it looks to be ok. I use LockOn stands. :D

High fence, with new fangle deer call, and a killer stand, ready to go for sure. But really that stand is ok but you really have to pick the right tree they don't adjust very well on the way up.BB
If that was all I had, maybe. Looks a bit too primitive on safety features for my liking.

It would work. I think it would be noisy packing it in and putting it on the tree. Also, it would be tricky getting the platform level once you climb up the tree. My very first climber was very similar to this one. I used it for a couple seasons. I think it is now collecting dust and rust in a barn down in KY.

Looks ok to me but, is it stiff enough or does it flex? Another bungee to keep your feet hooked up.

I climbed about 7' up a tree with it the other day. I am well over 200lbs and I was jumpin and bouncin on the platform. It is solid as a rock. It needs some new stirrups. Climbing down without them is impossible. Add a HSS vest and I think I'll actually try it.
