LE Salmon is a thing of the past, like a Blue Pike. Its all about steelhead now.

When I was a kid ( 38 years ago ) we use to catch the Salmon in the fall running the rivers just like we do the Steel Heads now. Heck back then it was even legal to snag Salmon. Man those were the good ole days.
I have not seen or heard of one caught for many, many, many years I am sorry to report. :(

Doesn't mean he can't fish for em...dang :p I thought other states still stocked salmon and a few would be in Lake Erie...guess I'm wrong.

I am sure there are some out there 45, just like blue pike. I just didnt want him to think it would be like perch, walley and steel head fishing where you can slam them almost all the time. Was just trying to help. ;)

I knew that the salmon were far and few, I just did not realize that they were THAT far and few. When was the last time someone actually caught a blue pike. They are said to be totally gone, extict as one good write up said. My mother used to tell the stories of nite fishing for them decades ago. How about big brown trout. I am told those are still being stocked.

They are stocked in NY but PA and OH curtailed those awhile back. Word has it that Ohio may be considering them again though. We'll see. The main reason they cut back to just the steelhead was that they get a much better return to the rivers than they did out of the others. i could care less about them re-starting the salmon but I wouldn't mind seeing browns back in the mix. :)
