So I could use a littel help figuring out what to get my wife for our 5 year anniversary. We already booked a night at that Donnas premier lodging place and plan on spending the day in amish country. She already gave me my gife today. Some golfing clothes (cool wife promoting my golfing hahahaha).
I was thinking a bow maybe? was looking at a left hand diamond. I know hse likes archery and she likes golf too, but i dont want her to get into too much of my guy time. She would mostly be target shooting and stuff. Maybe hunting later on with me which would be fine.
Is there like a particular type of gift you are supposed to give a woman on a 5 year anniversary?? I hate this stuff.

My suggestion is to follow the "Anniversary Gift List":
I found it makes things easier to narrow down potential gifts. Then you can buy within the category.

Next year just go down the list.
I'll admit some years are easier than others. Flowers for the fourth was easy. Set up delivery of flowers monthly. Five was a wooden box with some earrings.
Be careful, because if you buy a nice diamond ring, what do you follow it up with next year?

I would advise againt the bow for an anniversary gift. Good for birthdays and Christmas, not so much for the anniversary. Trust me, I speak from experience! ;) You know your wife better than we do, but I know one thing all woman enjoy and I figure your wife would love. Get her a day spa package. They can be pricey, but woman love to be pampered. Buy her a $100-200 package and let her be pampered, then pick her up, go home and get dolled up and then take her out for a nice dinner and a good show somewhere. I got my wife a day spa package like this, took her to our favorite restaurant for dinner and a comedy show, and then went home and treated it like a red-headed step child! It works :D

My wife told me many, many months in advance what she wants and I was listening. She is going to get her spa treatment. Hey, I get a day of peace and quiet to. It's a win-win! :D

You know the rest of that quote is "beat it like a red-headed stepchild."

Pandora bracelet. Thats all my wife talks about. Than for any gift throughout life, you can buy her charms for the bracelet, easy thinking on our part.

Definitely NOT a kitchen utensil. (Made that mistake once. Bad idea.)
If you have kids, a night out w/out them is usually a good bet. Nice, quiet restaurant. Maybe a movie. Or, better yet, a night away from home and kids. The day spa idea sounds good.
My wife is not hard to please. Others kind of, dare I say, expect more. In the end, you know your wife best. Good luck ;).

Happy Anniversary !
You've been offered some very good advice (1023). Take it and I don't think your wife or you will be disappointed. It gets more complicated over the years ;)

Anything I get my wife is the wrong color, wrong size, or something like that. NEVER...and I repeat NEVER...buy a piece of clothing that happens to be too big...
So im no help on the anniversery gift haha
I did just send my wife some expensive flowers though, she LOVED them. But why spend $80 on something that lasts a week???

I think I am going to go with the spa package, I got her that one year for a christmas present and it actually took her 2 years to use it. Shes not the self pampering type, but I think another day of it would do her good.
Thanks for the input guys

Take a little more advice. Put it in a nice wooden gift box. Then you can always "fall back on" the traditional Anniversary Gift schedule if you need to.

You obviously have put some thought into your anniversary, that's what is important. I'm sure she will enjoy the day. Congrats again and many more!

Let her know that wood is the 5th year gift, too. It will show that you were thinking about it. However, DON"T show her this thread.
Also, maybe the "wood" joke would work for year 1, but their sense of humor diminishes after that. After 10 years, they don't even bother to roll their eyes anymore.
I did get a eye roll when I wore the shirt I bought at the Deer and Turkey Expo.

The text in parens is much smaller. We have a difference of opinion on how much I get to go hunting and the hoops surrounding going out.

Luckily, my wife has actually gotten alot cooler since we have gotte nmarried. Every year she seesm to loosen up a bit.
Only hassle I get is, "You get to go golfing and hunting all the time, I dont ever do anything"...
My response = "Noone is stopping you from going out and doing anything, if you want to go out with your friends then go ahead, I can handle the kids"
Her reponse = "Well I am going to start, cause I am sick of sitting home all the time"
About 4 months later after she never makes any plans or tries to do anything, same conversation.
Other than that right there, we are good. Shes an mazing mother and wife and none else out there would put up with poop like her.

rgecko23,
How did she like the gift?
However, we don't need any details.
