I've had those days on the Ohio. I have not fished any tourneys on the big river, but have on smaller rivers and lakes. On the Ohio, it always seems "feast or famine" to me...you either slay them or get skunked! I've had some incredible days on the Belleville and Racine pools throwing topwaters on cloudy, overcast days. Then some days that look so promising never pan out. I remember one day on Racine we tried for smallies, and I caught one on the 1st cast on a small buzzbait near the boat ramp...and never got touched the rest of the day! :irked:

You aren't the only one...A good buddy of mine has been fishing all the BFL tourney this yr...He is fishing as a nonboater/coangler but still prefishes some. He'd found some fish prefishing. He ended up drawing a boater who cmpletly boat blocked him the whole day...after the 2nd spot my buddy knew how the rest of the day was going so he didn't offer anymore spots. Luckily he managed to fire one cast when the boater wasn't paying attention while switching baits and let the boat turn where my buddy could fish the structure and he caught 1 keeper...He didn't do well that day but he moved up the 3rd overall in points.
How was the current that day? We fished last Wednesday night good current and all my spots worked out for us. Caught a limmit and came in second to a team that had three fish with one smallie over four pounds. That was on Cumberland pool out of East Liverpool (actually put in at Chester WV) we had 11 boats and we were the only one with a limmit. But I love it when the currents flowing fast.

it seemed like in the morning they were drawing alot of water and in the afternoon they let her fill up cause the current was flowing into the creeks. i was also getting boat blocked and soon as the guy fished the cover wich were log jams on the main river he went racing to the next cover. talk about frustrating. dude was such an ass that i only got snagged like five times and he was making me break them off and bitching like an old woman. i was hoping he hooked a big one so i could knock it off with the net.
Report the idiot to the tourney director. You paid your money to fish. Give the guy an ear full.

Ive fished with guys like that when I first started out tournament fishing till I learned how to flip well enough to get my bait where he was fishing...Ive been tournament fishing now for about 12 years and I have always let who ever im fishing with to fish the front of the boat with me...Even after I catch my limit I will give him the front of the boat and I will fish out of the back, common courtousy...I fished the regionals on year on Indian Lake and the guy I was paired with was a real prick, didnt want me on the front of his boat at all unless I was netting his fish...Well I showed him, I outfished him on the back of his boat and had a really good heavy limit within 2 hours of fishing..What did I do then, I took a little nap lol and continued fishing after resting up...Even after that I stayed on the back of his boat and I flipped every little thing he fished and still caught fish behind him, he didnt have a good day at all...If he wasnt such a pain I would of helped him out, but hey you got guys like that all over the place...Well I dont live too far from Indian and I fish it alot so I know where to get my good bites...
